Military Action Begins..

Regardless of your position on military action in Iraq, I think everyone would agree that hopefully that the action will be as brief as possible with as few casualties as possible. Our thoughts are with both coalition forces (USA, UK, Australia mainly), their families, and the Iraqi civilians.

I agree. Safety to all of those who are looking after OUR safety. My position happens to be...Iraq has been in violation of the cease-fire agreement almost since they signed it. Resolution 1441 was unnecessary. Furthermore, the United Nations has proven itself to be "redundant." I can think of better use of that expensive real estate in NY. Oh well, my opinion...back to browsing. psf

People from all over the world is affected by the goings on in Iraq. Let us lean on each other in these times, pull our families together, and hold them tight. Lets pray this is over soon.

thank you for expressing those sentiments. I happen to believe that this military action is wrong at this point in time. However, we must think of the troops and all who are being affected and pray for them daily

I fear we are entering a new dark age in international relations which may undo what has been, with such difficulty and so tentatively, agreed in the last 50 years.

People have a fundamental right to choose their own government by means of democracy. It's good that the Iraqi civilians will finally be able to choose their own leaders when the whole operation is over.

-> There is an hundred other countries with dictators , a lot as more armed and more dangerous that sadam who was being disarmed by UN !
-> USA has just 10 years oil stock
-> 90% of the administration have worked into big oil corporation such as Enron (the Hawks)
-> Iraq is the second biggest oil stock after... Saudi Arabia
-> SO why by so urged to do war ?
-> With all the money spend to do this -> why we don't put 1000 inspectors or more and continue in a way where Sadam was destructing his own arms !
-> Why not letting them 6 months more, with all the inspectors and satellite which watching them, Iraq can do nothing (and all the american & british army) !

I am not for war. Who in their right mind is? I will still support the troops over there. Oil war? If France was really wanting peace, they would not have said they would veto any new resolution. They should have been willing to look at anything. France has oil interests in Iraq. They were protecting their interests. If they didn't have interests in Iraq, they might have look at the situation in a different light. In my opinion, France forced the US hand with the veto. I am not against the French but I am tired of people always attacking my country and accusing us of something. Take a look at your own country.

I don't say France have not interest in Iraq, it's true there is on oil company and maybe it is why Chirac doesn't want this war. I don't like Chirac a lot too. But I agree what he said.
After Gulf war, the was embargo, i don't comment it...
Then there was the food oil exchange.
Then some company were implented in Iraq, Sadam doesn't want US company, it is right, i can understand him because US was in war against him.
I'm totaly aigainst dictators like Sadam.
But, because US has no interest in Iraq, because USA has only 10 years of oil stock, because Iraq has 100 years stock at least... There is a war.
Before Irak attack kuwait in 90's, US army was in gulf some month ago. They do the war to protect their interest in Kuwait.
Since some months US army was in gulf... I know their will be a war since some month...
They don't want a pacific way, they want to control Iraq just to install oil company in a "country of liberty" (= without Sadam) which permit them to do it.
UN & many countries know that. And then they say "No, we don't want this war", we don't want the control of USA over the world policies just for oil. Iraqi men were killed in 90's.
Then 50% of Iraqi have less than 15 years old !
Sadam gives all people over ~12 years old guns and put them on the front... Who will US army killed ? Sadam or this children ?
Today we know some american and british soldier were killed ? Then I supposed that some of these Iraqi were killed too. But no people know how many are being killed at this time in the desert.
American doesn't know a lot about it, because patriots american just listen Bush saying "trust me, i will protect you against the demon and blablabla... god bless america (and go bless the others ?)".
Bush is an Hawk... Bush just want oil... Bush say he will protect america... Bush attack Iraq... Bush will install a American governement for 6 month in Iraq (and why not a UN governement ??)... American oil corporation will come back in Irak...
Arab people hate more and more america, they are not stupid, they know what want america. They are fed up to be killed, to have war, to be poor, for their oil...
Terrorism is an easy way... sadam is not bin laden... but bin laden is still here. Bush know the risk, but he prefer oil. It is the way, he protect you. And a big part of american don't see that. And it is dangerous for Europe too, we are close from middle-east.
I don't attack america, I'm with american who prefer Iraqi than oil,
i'm with arab people too.
I hate Bush, Blair, Sadam, Sharon and Poutine.

If it was about oil, folks, we could have just declared war on Kuwait or Saudi Arabia and taken all their oil fields since we were
already there in force. That way there wouldn't have been any oil fields on fire that would take months, and possibly lives, to put
out and have been enviornmental nightmares.

In regard to the french They rejected any final resolution even before saddam did. Who are the French to dictate or lecture about foriegn policy The British and American forces saved thier deriares in ww2.
