Don't install or upgrade to CCleaner 5.45

I was perusing ghacks when I found this article.

Since so many of us use the app, I thought you should read Martin Brinkmann's advice.

Yeah, I noticed a difference after I upgraded to the Pro version.  The free version beat CCleaner hands down, but there is no comparison with the Pro version, which runs rings around CCleaner, both free and pro

The Pro ver might be worth a look then...

I've had the pro version for a couple of days now and it really is excellent. Cost me £12 and for that it does loads of stuff.

CCleaner is pants by comparison.

Yep, and there are various deals on right now to make it even better value for money.

If it works as advertised what does it matter where it comes from or who created it. Its not a resource hog, it cut my boot up time more than half and......its affordable and......the free version is hands down better than most.

Uh....yeah,it does matter when this thread is talking about privacy, where as software from China is notoriously "spying" on some things you will never know.

Proof is in the pudding dude. This is about one app doing its job better than another. That's it.

I did notice one thing. Boot up time went from 42 seconds to 21 seconds. Cut it in half after running Wise Cleaner.

No way! What does it do apart from what ccleaner did?

They're not mentioning it has a separate system optimizer. However i tried it out & saw no difference to speed of boot before optimization & after. The times were the same. However this is a fresh install of win 7 with not much installed at the mo.

As for the cleaning.Wise is only a registry cleaner & it doesn't appear to do the clean option cc does. Also i did mention earlier to use ccenhancer as it adds far more functions to ccleaner & adds other options that wise uses in it's registry option & more that it doesn't.I couldn't be bothered comparing every detail so as far as i'm concerned they're pretty much the same registry cleaning wise. Will i keep WC. No. I've never found installing yet even more software being conducive to a faster pc,if anything it's the complete opposite

Beg to differ. The screenshot shows multiple tools that can be used. Registry cleaner, common cleaner, advanced cleaner and slim down. You have to look at all the different functions like I did. And I wasn't lying about the boot times. My average used to be 47 seconds. This morning it was 21 seconds. There's a pop up that shows the boot time. Since I've had it there has been one update, installed, and now there's another update, put out on the 24th of this month. I went through all of the functions. It cleaned everything from the registry to browser history to junk files, privacy traces and so on. Sorry but IMO it beats the hell out of CCleaner.

My boot time has dropped from 7 seconds to 3 seconds     It's those pesky start up programs you don't need

It's getting ridiculous, there are tons of software can do that, even Stardock affiliated ones do the trick too:Ashampoo WinOptimizer 16,Tweak7

You know, this seems really weird, I reinstalled CCleaner 5.44 (Free Version) and also now using Wise Cleaner 365 (Paid Lifetime Version). When I check for updates on CCLeaner 5.44 it says I am running the latest version. I got rid of 5.45 a while ago but don't remember where it came from. The Piriform/Avast site shows 5.44 as being the latest, so I think they removed 5.45. It is still on crap sites like FileHippo and others though, but definitely don't use it.

I might be looking for an alternative soon. CCleaner seems to be getting a little... odd these days.

I did not update CCleaner since 2014. v4.19.0.4867 is simply excellent and nothing new, worthy of any value at least, has been added to the program since. mcdvoice
