Fake Mac desktops

Sunday, November 24, 2002 by tinkergaloot | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

With the amount of interest generated by ObjectDock, I am curious to see what kind of desktops those that use it look like.
Here's my rather plain effort http://skins.wincustomize.com/tinkergaloot/desktop.jpg

From my encounters with Mac's, they are WAY better for video and digital imaging than anything else (that is about the only good thing.. and geting inside the case). No Win program can beet FinalCut Pro. But great balls of fire, the things cost you an arm and a leg, and a buddy's leg. I'd rather supe up a pc, with 2000 and the latest release of Redhat, with an HD display than buy a mac..

There are places I remember. All my life. Though some have changed. Some for ever not for better. Some have gone and some remain. All these places have their moments. With lovers and friends I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living. In my life I've loved them all.

Well, after being around during the last 3 and a half years , I must say that I never downloaded one single "Mac" theme or skin.

I agree with JamMeister33 first post in 100%: "If I wanted a Mac, I'd buy a Mac "

I see that some authors use to make Mac things in the same away they make XP things and will make Longhorn or whatever be popular in the future, just to get downloads.

I can's see the necessity of WC to care dozens and dozens of theme and skins of the same thing, just changing a few pixels for them to say: "Hey! this is the OSX I created!"....all those mimic themes and skins are nothing more then rips to me, since NOTHING was created by those "authors".

Using a Mac theme on a pc machine, is the same thing as if you have a Ford car, but using all the accessories of a Chevrolet, just to pretend that you have a chevy, because you don't have the $$$ to buy one...this doesn't make any sence to me.

If some of you thinks that I am overdoing, just make a search in the DesktopX, Windowblinds, Winstyles,etc.. sections and you will see what I mean...tons of the same thing, just different names as the "authors"

So what if people want to make their PC look like a Mac. That's part of the whole idea behind skinning. It's supposed to be Fun. Lighten up people, relax, take a deep breath. Aaahh, that's better.
