Fake Mac desktops

Sunday, November 24, 2002 by tinkergaloot | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

With the amount of interest generated by ObjectDock, I am curious to see what kind of desktops those that use it look like.
Here's my rather plain effort http://skins.wincustomize.com/tinkergaloot/desktop.jpg

If I wanted a Mac, I'd buy a Mac

Hell, if I could afford one I'd buy one too, but here in Australia they are considerably more expensive than in the US- around $10,000 (Australian) for a PowerMac to match the configuration and performance of my PC...

I don't think I'll be a "switcher" just yet .
So I'm grateful for Stardock and the their products that can at least allow me to have something that looks a bit like OS X...

I have an iMac and I still think it's fun to make my PC look similar to one.

I've been with the "IBM clones" from day one practically, I've never owned a Mac, have used them on occasion, and frankly they just don't do it for me. I like to get into the guts, and Mac won't let you do that.

10,000 Oz is about 4500 US, but last I noticed Macs weren't that expensive. Even a Ti-Book, or whatever they are called wasn't that much. My mate currently running around in Brazil filming the next Survivor series bought one just before he left [few weeks ago]...thought it was about 6000 AUS....

Ah...so Macs are still over-priced crud, then...
High-end equipment from a monopoly...you get what you are sucked dry for....

I'm an IBM clone user and proud of it...

I wouldn't pay 2299 for a 17" anything, except maybe.....

Not when about 1900 gets you a 21" Sony and I can upgrade my existing box myself to be 'the bee's knees' for about 1500...

I think it's also worth the equivalent of Kiribati coconut shells...
