My first attempt for a Windowblinds skin

Thursday, February 24, 2011 by benmanns | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Ok as i said im on holiday this week so i have some time working on something diffrent...
This is my first attempt to build a skin what i´ve done so far is making a quick paper sketch to gather some ideas on how it should look what i will show here is not final, i will change it completely maybee.
I started with the tutorial from Vampothika sinze i have never used Skin Studio: you can find the tutorial here :
http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/Skin_Studio_7:_The_Tutorial#Getting_Started
Im still working on the Startmenu and i must admit i didnt think it would take that many layers to get close to this.
I have to change some values for the shadows since im not quite pleased with the current result.
Also i will add some release valves and maybee a bit of steam not to much also i will try to get a more flowing connection beetween the background and the starmenu tab itself it still looks like it just hangs infront of all.

Tips are always welcome aswell as critic.

I found some time today to make a basic StartMenu what i have made so far looks like this:

First Previous Page 6 of 6 Next Last

yes, i would try to have it looking as normal as possible when you do the searching stuff, having cut off graphics just makes people upset with

the blind and the quality of the skin and they will change to another skin quicksmart.

if you truly want those black lines on your yellow substyle, try not having so many so it dosent affect the result when you search.....

OK i just reviewed everything and i have everything like i wanted...
Im sure there are some buttons unskinned but i think that will be ok.Not because im lazy --- what iam but because i think they flow nicely with the rest.
The skin has 2 substyles each is a bit diffrent in its own way you may check them out aswell.
Fixed vertikal horizontal taskbars adjusted some colors, bunch of margins and so on and so on.
Now i reached the point where i think it is time to let you guys test it before the main release so if you like give me a P.message.

Thank you All for commenting and keeping me on track on my first windowblind.
Also i would like to thank Uvah for his comments, your comments made me not drop this skin and to continue.
Its always helpful to have some experienced people around that comment on your work progress.

I have some ideas for future skins but i want to make sure this time that everything i do is also possible -take my experience from this skin with into the next and prevent them from happening, with my experience from this skin i could calculate whats possible and whats not already into the planning.I think if i didnt planned this for so long i would have given up after a week already.Afterall i did know nothing about margins and all the streching stuff that is part of it, that was my flaw i think.
I hope you liked the "bit" unusual Startmenu... because i have some more strange ideas that i havent seen in a windowblind yet that i really would like to try in the future. But first i will take a little breather and enjoy some weeks with my family and start planning.
Thanks Again to you all.
