When Should Mom Stop

Sleeping and Showering with Boys

My girlfriend and I are at odds on when should a parent start exihbiting healthy boundries to their children. She has 2 boys (10 and 13) and still showers with them and allows them to sleep with her. She's even described her oldest son's genitals as starting to look "Manly". The other day they were laughing in the background, I asked her what was so funny and she said they were laughing about rubbing soap on her ass in the shower. There's the situation. I'm concerned that if we try to take this any further I'm gonna be the "Bad Guy" that came along and took their space in the bed, shower, etc... Not to mention the kind of emotional damage it may induce. I know that the LAST thing I ever want to remember is what my mom looked like naked. I need some feedback....please. Thanks Edit: The reason I'm asking is because she thinks I'm whacked for being critical of the situation and It's about to cause a breakup. If I'm being wierd about this then I can swallow it and go on. BUT, I'm just convinced that there are going to be some major issues if she continues to ignore the suggestions. Issues that would be tough to deal with, jealousy, rebellion, all sorts of acting out, etc...

You're not being extreme JP, that's some seriously sick shit happening! And yeah, it shouldn't have never made it here, this should have been dealt with, as you say, yesterday!

Yeah, I saw that... but then Po` is a wild card, rogue elephant come bull in a china shop when it comes to members pic manipulations, bless him.

In fact, one has to wonder if his obsession with that dates back to a childhood trauma... like at family photo time when granny would use a bit of spit so a contrary hair would lay down... and then pinch his cheeks to make 'em look rosier in the photos.

Starkers, now that's funny I don't care who ya are! LOL Anyway, my counselor forwarned me today that there was a letter mailed yesterday that she'll be given 5 days to respond to and then it will be turned over to the "OTHER" Authorities. So....tomorrow is "D" day for ol RAD! I'm gonna wear my helment and shouldamapads tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be on "SOME" Golf course "Somewhere" tomorrow. I'll keep ya posted if I can still type! RAD

I'm proud of you RadialFX. As a parent of 4 children myself, This is a must deal with right away situation. You have done the right thing here, and i commend you for coming to an open forum to discuss this problem. Well done my friend.

I again want to thank EVERYONE here for your support. It's funny how you can feel about something like this. Of course this is the first time for me, but, it's wierd how on one side you're driven to do what your intellect tells you and on the other side you can somehow feel some sort of wierd kind of guilt. It's kind of like...who am I to be doing this. I've never been one to feel like I was above anyone else. I guess I'm kind of relating it to a police officer having to arrest someone that in his opinion may not need to be arrested but has to be according to the law. I don't know, I guess I'm kind of releasing some nervous energy here! But, I really want to thank all of you guys. RAD

What she is doing is way way wrong. There ain't no doubt about it. Run, don't look back run. Did it ever occur to you that you might get in trouble over what she is doing? You being there and knowing about it. I can't endorse her actions in any way. Wrong Wrong Wrong.

As a retired Social Worker her situation with her boys is bad and you did the right thing. She and the boys will need some serious treatment and unfortunitlly the boys will come out of this with some scars, but now they can get help, you did good RAD!!!!

I think that Purrball was just trying to be funny....to release the tension which is generated by this kind of taboo violation. Problem is, there's a fine art to humor in print....I can't do it, but Zubaz, Po' Smedley and others can...sorta like Purrball's
great skinning ability...I can't do that either...

It's difficult in print, in particular, yes.

Sometimes it's too subtle or obtuse....and kinda is ruined if you must follow up with "BTW...this is in jest", or some-such....

Zubaz can make jokes? ....

I have a 14 year old son, and this just gives me the creeps. I told him at 12 that I thought he was a bit to old for us to be kissing on the lips even if it was just a peck. I think you did the right thing Rad and I give you kudos for having the courage to do so.

You did the right thing, don't ever think otherwise. I hope the boys can get good counselling so that they are not left with the thought that any of this was their fault and can hopefully grow up normal.
