On the bottom left on the home page of WinCustomize.com there is a poll being taken. If you're a registered user of WinCustomize.com, please tell us what you think of the name, Windows Vista. Windows Vista is the name Microsoft has given to its next version of Windows (previously called Longhorn).

Hmm ... undecided at this point. It doesn't really do much for me but it's not like it's a horrible name.

Didn't much care for the name before.Seemed silly to name it after a dumb animal.

Like it - vista gives the software a feel for the future ... it flows with "windows" ... Longhorn sounded Texan like (no offense).. too much like cattle

that name sux they come out with a more modern name vista sounds like somthing from the 70's

I thought "Longhorn" had something to do with the Whistler/Blackcomb ski resort in British Columbia...

Good grief! Let Microsoft call it what they like - after all it's their product.

Well, as usual your poll fails to have an appropriate answer for my opinion, which is 'ehh' ....... I neither like or dislike the name. It doesn't 'speak' to me, but doesn't 'bother' me ...... at this point I don't care what they call the OS.

I love it , its great, actually if you wanna know why they called it VISTA well because in spanish and italian it means : sight!! BTW you ppl should not care about the name, u should car about the content right??

I do agree its about time that they got away from version numbers (though still used internally) and year names. Although I think XP was an excellent name. Vista certainly is more telling than for example OS X. As already mentioned, the content and how it improves computing is vastly more important than its name. Unless of course it had been named Cowdung or something lol.

Since the betas usually blow up your PC, why don't they name it Windows "Terrorist" or Windows "Al Queda"?

I like Longhorn better. Vista sounds like a vacation spot in Europe.

Don't like it. It sounds too feminine. Like some kind of new image browser. Longhorn was definitly not feminine, but I didn't like it either. It's like, "YeeHaw Partner! I ust got'n me a new oprat'n system fur me new 'puter! Hot, diggity dog!." Vista is like, "O my gosh, I was just in the like new computer store in the mall and I saw the cutest new windows thing. It had like the cutest name and, O my gosh, I just loved the little logo."
