Try using a pencil and paper first. When you become accomplished with these, move to computers.

i never liked pencil and paper, thats why i like the digital stuff

and i would say get Photoshop, it truely is the best allaround program and the learning curve is worth the time

What about the GIMP?

The Gimp is a good program also, although the learning curve can be a bit steep.

I have PSP 7.0 and PS 5.5. PSP has such an easy interface it wins all the time. I cannot see anything in PS which warrants the huge price hike...

I've been SMELT fishing on Lake Michigan. It runs the entire month of April here.

oh! For God's sake don't start bickering about the mundane(reworded: spelling).

anyway, I prefer Photoshop. But you know, Corel is tempting me(admittedly).

I use PSP mainly becauser i've been using it since psp5, so im used to its layout.
Still, i've used PS (a demo) in ocasions and it seems to be more powerfull than PSP
(even though PSP is becoming more powerfull in last versions).
So PSP is my personal choice but PS is better, especially if your using it professionally.

Surely Photoshop for me is best. It's easier to learn and has more advanced filters. Also a great variety of extras, like filters and stuff. Personally i charged it with almost 600 other filters (there are many free ones,no need to buy them),many extra brushes, shapes, actions, fonts and styles. For me it's the top of all graphics programs for the average and exprerienced user.
