Sunday, May 1, 2005 by knoxville0182 | Discussion: Community

how about a software to change the sounds of windows? (like = login, logout, minimize, restore, etc etc..)
with a on-line library?
packs of thems, easy to install
making more nice the "xp-erience" on our pc's

add your opinions n' program-options here, and ask for WINCUSTOMIZE this program, e-mail them or reply this post to make it real
I know they gonna make it, because they do what people wish, money 4 them, satisfaction 4 us.... (and that's OK!!) update: Look!!!!! i know there is options, i realy know "control panel" but... why exist cursor xp? cuz, give us more options, quality, and make it easyest , you don't have to change cursor by cursor as in control panel, you only click the pack JUST THINK IN NEW SOUNDS *FX IN RELATION WITH OUR SKINS, EXAMPLE: AQUARUM DESKTOP >>>> UNDER WATER SOUNDS ETC

Windows needs some washing...especially with the sound. It has to be high quality, though. Let's get cracking!!

Got games? Then you have tons of sound files you can use just in those. And Plus! for windows also has additional sounds you can use in place of the default sounds provided by windows. Most people don't even realize that they already have tons of sounds already on their PC's.

WebGizmos is right..Sounds are generic really..and so very easy to change..

Heres a great "Sound Recorder" program that I used to use to capture sound bits for web pages I used to create.. http://www.highcriteria.com It will capture anything going through your sound card, it's a great little program...
You can save the files to MP3, and make them as long or as short as you want... For editing I use a program called "GoldWaV" but thats getting a bit more involved..

Anyway,
Enjoy,

If we ever had sound themes here, it would be a moderation hell. How many people actually create their own original sounds?
Sure, use WebGizmo's or Double Zero's methods to rip the sounds for your own personal use, but you can't distribute them.

So very true Pax..With the program I linked it is simple enough to capture sounds from external sources as well, anything really, any sound you can get your Mic to pick up..Guitar, Keyboard..etc..etc..But people are talking about using clips from "Audio Slave" as log-on sounds..Im sure that would be a definite "No-No" to add to the WC Library.. It could turn into a "Metallica" scandle all over again..

I linked that program so people can make stuff like that for their "Personal use" it's easy to do and like I said, changing windows sound events could not be any easier..it really is a piece of cake!

Actually, it could be a lot easier. You could install an entire theme with one click of the mouse. Microsoft has a few themes on their site that allow you to do that, but they're old and tired.

i agree with both sides here.

can't really post sound themes.

but a nice little (widget/gadget) to allow you to save and change themes would be kinda cool.

I agree with Paxx. Having a sound scheme library would be a nightmare to moderate, and what could anyone really post there? Unless you created it yourself, its already copyrighted and you couldn't post it. And with all the stuff I can find on my PC already I doubt there would be anything posted that I would really find useful. I already have numerous games that come with tons of sounds.

Thats why I suggested looking within your own PC for stuff you didn't know you had.
