Anyone really know how to get rid of gophers????????

Friday, May 21, 2004 by teddybearcholla | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

We "had" this beautiful front yard, no grass, stones, and a rock river, with all kinds of cactus, flowering sage, a huge agave, et. We have lost the agave, the little b..guy ate up all the inside, I sure hope he had a hangover! Now he is working on our australian bottle tree, a beautiful tree it was, now it is very stressed Have tried trapping, putting bubblegum down the holes, even poured a bottle of ammonia and then bleach, thought I got him, but he popped up after a few days. Sounds cruel, I don't like killing anything, but he is destroying all the plants > My neighbor said that he and a friend of his, when living in Montana, tried to get rid of a gopher by putting propane down the hole and lighting a match "Caddy Shack" I guess was more true to life then I realized
Anyway, this is a serious question, if any of you have any ideas, or have had the problem yourselves and know the answer

The odd taipan or two would make short work of a gopher or ten...

.....it's those 48 billion dingos above ground that are a pain in the ass...

They're still no match for the rabbits - dopey white man for introducing them! Now they're a real pest in much the same way as I imagine gophers must be!

So...the ideal thing to do, import taipans..whatever they are....then we'd probably be overrun by the taipanese ...no natural predators here for them

Um.....the Aussie Inland Taipan is the deadliest snake on the planet...a single venom yield [milk] will get you on average 46 mls of venom....enough to make 4600 kilos of humans into ex-parrots.

That would add up to a fair sprinkling of dead gophers....

Bigger 'pest' issue in Oz is the one or two foxes currently in Tassie.....people are praying they do not/have not bred.

Neither foxes nor rabbits are native....they're vermin.

T o pst a pic, right click it and choose properties...copy/paste url into the text window you get when you click on the 'picture' icon at right....just below the smilies...
