Anyone really know how to get rid of gophers????????

Now he is working on our australian bottle tree, a beautiful tree it was, now it is very stressed
Have tried trapping, putting bubblegum down the holes, even poured a bottle of ammonia and then bleach, thought I got him, but he popped up after a few days. Sounds cruel, I don't like killing anything, but he is destroying all the plants >
My neighbor said that he and a friend of his, when living in Montana, tried to get rid of a gopher by putting propane down the hole and lighting a match
"Caddy Shack" I guess was more true to life then I realized
Anyway, this is a serious question, if any of you have any ideas, or have had the problem yourselves and know the answer

I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?

Thank you UBob, Sounds like a plan, but probably too late this year, really hot weather setting in.

He was back within 3 days, have a cat, she used to catch them, but has now decided birds are easier! Doorstep treasures! Tried the whirl-i-gigs too, for noise, nada. Thank you for all the suggestions!Reply #12 Friday, May 21, 2004 9:57 PM

Careful though, it's also toxic to cats.
