You and the Internet

There are lots of different freeware programs and services that people use to protect and to learn more about their computer experience. Post a link to your favorites here so that others can benefit too.

Earthlink ToolBar
Earthlink has made their ToolBar available to all internet users, not just Earthlink Subscribers. It includes a Pop-Up Blocker and Google Search, basically the same as the Google SearchBar, and something new called ScamBlocker which as they put it:
''ScamBlocker helps protect you against phisher schemes, in which Web sites pose as your bank or Internet service provider in order to steal your credit card number, Social Security number, or other personal information.''

Don't forget one of the best web browsers out there...Mozilla Firefox! It features tabbed browsing, a built-in pop-up blocker (which works great, by the way), and it's FREE! You can also download plug-ins (Firefox calls them extensions) that let you do pretty much anything the browser doesn't do already. And, oh yeah, it's *ahem* skinnable! I love this browser!

Check it out: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

This isn't security related but it's a great free-to-try product if you are interested in saving paper while printing out emails, website information, or any other documents. They also have a program that creates PDF files.

Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Sourceforge is my first stop these days when looking for freeware. The range of applications is awesome!
