Earthlink ToolBar
Earthlink has made their ToolBar available to all internet users, not just Earthlink Subscribers. It includes a Pop-Up Blocker and Google Search, basically the same as the Google SearchBar, and something new called ScamBlocker which as they put it:
''ScamBlocker helps protect you against phisher schemes, in which Web sites pose as your bank or Internet service provider in order to steal your credit card number, Social Security number, or other personal information.''

It also allows you to save address info to quickly fill in any form on any site. I have been using it for years and have never had any problems with it, and as far as i can tell it has no spyware, etc.

Eraser is FREE software and its source code is released under GNU General Public License.
The patterns used for overwriting are based on Peter Gutmann's paper "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" and they are ed to effectively remove magnetic remnants from the hard drive.
Top reviews from the most popular software sites and magazines confirm that Eraser is one of the best security tools available for Windows

When you power on a computer the BIOS immediately takes control of the computer and performs the P.O.S.T (Power On Self Test). At the end of the POST the computer will play an audible 'BEEP' through either the PC's internal speaker of through speakers attached to the sound card (if you have a built-in sound chip). If the POST completed successfully without detecting any problems with then system will play a single short beep to let you know the test is complete and the computer will continue to startup and load the operating system.

Don't Fear the Registry If you haven't spent much time in the Registry, you can easily be cowed by it. At first glance, it's a maze of apparently incomprehensible settings. In fact, though, there's a method to the madness. http://hacks.oreilly.com/pub/h/658

http://www.google.com/options/buttons.html Adding Google Browser Buttons to your personal toolbar gives you access to Google's search technology, without taking up extra screen space. Browser buttons let you search the Internet simply by highlighting a word (or phrase) on any web page and clicking the Google Search button. And it does work with WinXP though they don't mention it

F_Prot: http://www.f-prot.com/products/
McAfee CleanBoot: http://www.networkassociates.com/us/downloads/beta/cbt/cbt.htm
They come in handy when you happen to get one of those "anti-virus virus" infections.. the ones that disable your AV before it loads. I usually run a scan with one about once a month, just to be sure. (Yeah, I'm a little paranoid about virus infections.... but, I deal with removing virii and spyware everyday for a living... ya' gotta' expect that. hehehe)
