It's begining to become a bit tiresome even if it's not dramatical ...
Could any admin take a look at who's going on this way ??

usually i only rate when i see such threads appearing. so i had a look at your´s. i rated it 5. there´s nothing spectular in it. a skin by somebody else. a boring wallaper. matching icons. a Rainlendar and Winamp skin by you. the Winamp skin isn´t great at all and has many jaggies and other distracting elements (the sliders in particular). the Rainlendar skin is quite ok.
overall pretty average (i´ve seen worse, but just as many better). that´s why i gave it a five.
not sure if that was what you were hoping when you was starting the thread. but i´m sure a few people will give your screenshot a high rating, not because it´s really great, but in order to "balance" what you consider to low.

In every case there....there are only 2 or 3 ratings at best.....and stats will reveal that the more ratings a work receives the more legitimately 'correct' the average will be...
Easy fixed....rate them...

did you have a look at how many views those had. it´s very likely the 4s and 5s are the admin ratings

).Anyway i'm not stuck to 4/5 against 8/9, what i mean is that some are first rating 8 (for example) by an admin, and then, without any comment left by anyone on it, the rating goes to 5 with just one more rating ==> that means someone gave a 2 !!!
That's this way of practising i'm pointing on ...

neophil78......the second rating was a '4', not a '2'.....and alarm bells only ring when you see a work with a dozen 9's and 10's and one quaintly 'odd' '1'....then you take notice...and keep an eye on similar 'trends'.
In the caese shown here....it's a simple example of one person who 'likes them a bit' and another who 'likes them a bit less'.....definitely NOT vindictive or 'evil'...

and i'm not really sure about your feelings of quality

there are other ways to get self-esteem than screenshot ratings, believe me. looking at your profile it seems that you upload a screenshot every few days. sometimes even two a day. that´s a pretty odd hobby in my eyes

As everyone knows, 8+4 / 2 = 5
(N.B: the numbers given where just an example, not in real and on a special skin ...)

moshi....there are a few who upload anything up to a dozen at a time.......I've never really understood exactly 'why' they do....but they do.
Screenshots have always been a tool for demonstrating an example of something...or a work-in-progress.....maybe how a wall works well with a skin....something like that....but to obsess about them as perhaps an 'artform' is just a little weird...

Those 4 examples....1, 2, 2, 4 are the numbers of ratings.
Not one of the ratings is less than 4.
There IS no issue with their ratings...

Yes, I, for one, care what my skins/walls/whatever are rated...
A high rating tells me I did something right and that people like what I made.
A low rating tells me people think my work was crap...
A high rating gives me more downloads because it is visible to the unregestered public, and vice-versa.
So, yes, ratings are important to me...

Appreciation and respect from fellow artists via comments are good too.
The best rating you will ever get is the famous "upload notification" email. Nothing else matters.
Reply #18 Sunday, March 14, 2004 9:45 PM
If you get a low rating...you see that people dont like it...and dont think its worth their time to download.
Believe me Kona, its different when you actually MAKE the skin/wall yourself, rather than getting permission to 'rip' anothers work and upload it under your name

And I don't upload just for download counts. It is nice to see lots of downloads, but in truth it is all in fun as skinning should be.
