All you are blowing is negative hot air. Where are your skins, Mr. Super Star Critic? You come here and try to tear down the community, and the skinners and all its members? I guess we should learn something by your name.
lot of what I see on here is going along the same lines as what Windows XP originally looked like.
Hmm, could that be because the skins use the WindowsXP Gui shell? Nevermind, I'm not going to play your game anymore. Have fun.

you might equate many skins here to the styles of video game players - whilst i get the impression you're more of a streamlined, simple, all-about-functionality-and-not-flash type of person. i'm the same way.. i take function over design and for that reason i've had the same basic object bar and dock on my desktop since day one. if i could skin, maybe you'd like my stuff. but i don't.. and since i know i'm one of a minority of people who like that design, i'm not suprised there are few things here i would use. but i won't lash at the artists here because the don't have my tastes.. what i see here is still far beyong anything i've seen elsewhere and i'm happy with what i have been able to get.
long story short i hope this is all over now and you'll find many people here are very skilled, and are great people to know.. you won't find that out though if you play the maverick just for kicks

The reason I started skinning and playing around with the Windows XP GUI was to change the original commercial look of everything and give it something thats worth looking at
You have the right to state your opinion, that's fine. But no one owns the rights on TASTE
You should consider uploading a few of your own skins to the library(0 at the moment), and let us see your version of taste
Or one better put a skin up in the GUI Contest

no no no the 2100 who dl zippo, were forced to by the commercialistic over powering of glossy dribble we keep spewing out every day ..at least thats the way it came off to me. in his post he is conveying that those are the best of the hum drum crapola we make...grrrrrr

But I think I may be able to surprise atleast a few of you with some of the idea's I have. Thanks for being understanding. I really appreciate that.

"Take a look at the work "Zippo" and please, don't tell me it's not over-saturing and lacking contrast. This is my point. The reason these people are getting hired by companies for graphic design work is because of the lack of originality to choose from."
In a word, no.
Your point contradicts itself by implying Zippo falls into the 'unoriginal' bracket, then you say Pixtudio (And others similar) only get hired to create original things.
Skins offered here are for personal use only, not companies to pick and use as they like.
The reason skinners are hired by companies is to make custom tailor-made skins designed how the comapny wants it.
Anyhoo, if you do decide to try your hand at skinning, any stuff you release will be very welcome.
It's already clear that anything you may submit (Even if it's a first attempt) will likely not be the usual rehash of whatever fad is in at the moment. And the skinning scene definitely needs more people who can do that.
Good luck, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing how your ideas turn out.

You could have stated your views like this:
"As well as all the excellent hard work that people have done creating skins already, I'd like to suggest that there could be alternative styles which I for one would prefer to see, and could prove very popular. Here are my ideas...."
Instead, paraphrasing, you state it as "All this stuff is rubbish and lacking imagination and style because I say it is and that's the only thing that counts. I want to see things in a different style and anyone with a different taste has no taste."
That isn't just stating an opinion, it's claiming absolute authority to make pronouncements on taste.
You've then exacerbated it all by "apologising" in such a way that you continue to make such arrogant, egotistical pronouncements whilst ostensibly being contrite.
I'm only posting this to hopefully point you in the direction of improving your social skills rather than commenting on your particular opinions on the skins here....if you wish to be part of a community, you can't expect to dictate you views and think people will just accept it as fact. By all means offer opinions and suggestions, give constructive critisism about specific works, and you'll stand a good chance of inspiring people to create the different things you seem to have in mind.
