Pledge of Allegiance Case

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether the Pledge of Allegiance - with its phrase "one nation, under God" - is something students should be allowed to say in public schools.

I think a lot people know about this case. It has been a while but now the Supreme Court have decided to hear the case. My class will have a debate on this next week. I just want to know what the adult think about this case.

Ah, but do you really give a crap, or does your sublimated national identity value ceaseless, lackadaisical heckling over your neighbor's fence? I heard someone say once that Canadians are so interested in the US because they don't have a nation of their own, lol. Current debate seems to back that up.

remember the movie miracle on 34th street. they let santa go because of the words on the dollar bill. i think the words should be changed to under santa since santa is at the north pole and obviously the usa is under the north pole.

will the next-in-line proclaimer of of the phrase "propaganda and brainwashing" ( there have been many, yes?) please give us a break and a little variety and write "brainwashing and propaganda" ? that is, unless you've been brainwashed to always parrot the phrase in the preceding order.

the USAF electronic warfare training school that trained me also trained canadian air force flyers. they started off taking 5 canadians per class, and quickly found that they had to have alternating classes: 5 french canadians in this class, 5 non-french canadians in the next class, etc.
these guys supposedly were part of the same air force. a little of our federalist unity wouldn't have hurt them a bit. ( at least they might have behaved a little more like adults).

and I thought it was gonna be another tedious read
I haven't said the pledge since grade school and I don't want to have to try to figure out the year
I graduated back in 74 and the only thing I was saying the pledge to back then was the clock at 3:49 pm 
"I pledge allegiance to the clock May your second hand be fast And may a time warp strike you soon so I can leave this class....

Bangkokboy, that you for illustrating my point. That's exactly what I meant. There is not Canadian unity anymore than there is a federation. Nor do we want one. Different strokes, like footsie said. Your ways are strange to us, like our ways are strange to you I guess.

Why can't this issue be left to the individual school to decide?
in my school they used to do the pledge every morning, then moved it to only at Assembly.
In High school it was just at assembly.
The pledge of allegiance isn't really a 'pledge'. It is not that serious unless you are taking public office.
The under God reference to me is very general, was added for political reasons (and apparently will be removed for the same), and somewhat is more filler than a actual belief in God itself.
In God we Trust on money also is not a big deal. Notice credit card do not say In God We Trust.
I know I am over simplifying but I just feel this is not as big a deal as it is being made to be.

left mother mather with orders for the wild weasel squadron at khorat, thailand. a major with friends stole my assignment. i was offered choice of a "safe" assignment ( B-52H, Minot north dakota) or a combat assignment ( spectre gunships, ubon, thailand). in effect, i had to choose between being a stone's throw from vietnam and being a stone's throw from canada. decided that getting shot at for one year beat getting slowly frozen for four years. ( gunships draw less antiaircraft artillery fire than most other combat aircraft anyway, for obvious reasons).
did i forget to say the pledge this morning? ( does that query get me back on topic?)
