Very Upset...

Tuesday, June 3, 2003 by Zodiaq~ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm feeling extremely upset. Another skinner from this site (you know who you are) stole one of my graphics from my "Blue Pearl" skin and is using it. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to say any names, just looking for advice on the matter.

I would never make such a controversial statement unless I was 100% sure. I have taken and reproduced the stolen graphic many times, the pixel pattern is almost exact, it can be reproduced quite easily with just using layer styles in Photoshop.

What can I do?

Well, you made it impossible for yourself to return now.

Your opinion concerning what is rude or not is a little akward. It is rude how you can consume the time of others and only hope that they will prove your own right. And when they do not share your "opnion" you throw them away like letters on your screen. You have abused these people. Think about it.

Zodiaq~ I understand that you might feel upset because you saw a design that looks like yours. But I think your opening statement on the post its what brought all this drama. You started the post as follow;

You directly accused someone and briefly detailed what the problem was. If what you wanted was to get assitance on the matter, the correct aproach would have been a post asking how can you report a possible rip. Then someone would have pointed you to the person/s that can help you. You would have e-mail that person/s and all this would had been avoided.
Just my oppinion.

My turn now. I am extremely annoyed to be accused of copying work without due proof and with knowing the colouring i used is more popular than anything i know, and to be honest i have never downloaded his work nor even looked at it to know. And i do not appreciate emails accusing me also, that is taking it to a personal level.

Zodiaq you have no proof (cause there is none) and you've clearly convinced yourself i have ripped your work so all i can say is coincidence happens and get over it. I will not apologise for something i have not done, i did not start doing skins just to have accusations thrown at me cause something looks similar, if there is something i want to use or adjust then i will ask.

I already had the idea it was about your skin, my personaly oppinion about this:

Zodiaq is WRONG

Dark Mist is a very prommising new skinner, and the personal mails are just LOW! I know you wouldn't do such a thing dark mist, and know how anoying it is to be accused of ripping if you didn't do it.

( had the same incident when some guy started screaming I ripped something of copperdeck... (cause my cursor had a sphere... omg)

If people have been rude, I think it's because of the fact that you're going to leave the community simply because Jafo and others disagree that it's a rip. Maybe it's me, but that seems rather childish, especially for something as little and common as a round Aqua-like button.
People leave over the silliest ideas.

That was well said.  I'm always amazed when this happens.  And it's purely silly if you take a step back and look at it from a distance.

1) a person makes a post about something that is done wrong to them. (they publicly posted to the board which then makes it a public issue....it's not a "can an admin email me" post- it's a "this is wrong!" post)

2) others don't see the same view point and tell the original poster that they don't see it that way.  In return, the original poster get defensive.

3) more people post, more people get angry

4) original poster says "goodbye cruel world" and leaves.

purely silly.

Oh, and by the way, I looked at the buttons *very* closely.  I even tried manipulating yours to make it look like the "rip".  It would be easier to make it from scratch than to manipulate it that much.  I really see it as just another glassy button (which are all really "inspired" by Mac )  I'm sorry that you got this upset over it.

I remember that.... I stood up for ya', too because I used both Cursors and knew that they were very different.  It happens all the time....

Just getting one thing 'straight'...at no time was a name mentioned publicly here....until Dark Mist commented himself.

Zodiaq~ may have been 'incorrect' in his assertion but the 'issue' remained anonymous and therefore respectful.

I just thought that point should be made...

I'm sorry but i did not want to remain unknown that it was my work in question, i came forward to say my part because i believe staying in the background would only make it look more suspicious.

I've nothing to hide but my shoddy work

I'm no expert, but the button in question is 99% close to a default PSP6 Button object, already created and ready to paste, But as i said I'm no expert
