X Box vs PS2 vs GameCube vs PC

Monday, May 19, 2003 by kona0197 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I figured to start another "vs" thread because the last one was fun!

So...

1) What is your favorite system, no matter how old?
2) What is your favorite game?
3) What would you like to own as a dream game system?

You still need to buy the kit. I don't know if you need to order a subscription since you are a Microsoft Internet customer but still the online play does not work without the kit.

You have always come here saying how great Macs are and how much PCs suck.

Intel and Nvidia sucks.

They only suck because you can't afford em... get real read some news. Intel is about to put AMD out of business (sadly) and the P4 IS the fastest chip on the face of the earth (for personal PCs) with the exception of the new G5.
As far as Nvidia, they make the best video cards and damn good chipsets. Do some research man!

#113 by Tech Cat - 7/20/2003 7:16:35 PM Yes XBOX has a built in ethernet card but it does NOTHING without the XBOX Live kit and the subscription to XBOX Live.

Ever heard of Xbox Connect? $30 for the remote and how much for the Gamecube modem?

Does the Gamecube play DVDs?

Nvidia sucks and ATI rules. Gamecube uses an ATI and has made a deal with ATI to have them provide the graphics cards for future Nintendo consoles. AMD rules because it is advanced technology at a lower price. If Intel takes AMD out of business, it's only because Intel is probably doing the same kind of anti-competitive activities Microsoft does. If all the PC has is Intel and Microsoft with no alternatives then I would rather go Mac.

Who cares if Gamecube plays DVDs or not. If you want to watch DVDs then use a DVD player. PS2 use to be my DVD Player but I later got a real DVD player because gaming consoles suck for DVD. Gaming consoles do one thing well and that is play games.

Ummm, you really can't go wrong with either Nvidia or ATI. Try to say otherwise.

And word has it Microsoft is goin with ATI for Xbox2 (or whatever it's gonna be called).

Got to look at the big picture brother. Some people can not afford a video game system and a DVD player.

Some people just want to waste money on Mario Bros....

No doubt, and I don't use the Xbox as a DVD player, but there are people out there who can't afford it.

Just another feature Gamecube lacks. That's all. So you never heard about Xbox Connect? Free. I'll be playin on broadband (for free) while you're on 56k in which you payed 35 beans for it. If you won't watch DVDs on your Xbox, then there's no need for a DVD remote.

...and I don't want to pay extra for a built in DVD playback that is crappy especially if I already have a DVD player. Gamecube would cost more if they had built in DVD playback. Nintendo made the right decision when they decided they are a gaming company not a home entertainment center company.

Check out how crappy PS2 and XBOX DVD playback is http://dvd.ign.com/articles/315957p1.html

I don't play online games so which ever system does online better does not effect which system I favor more. I just like to play games. That's all I expect of a gaming console.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, stop it. Big list for the Xbox

The only way you will be able to tell the difference with it really mattering is compared to progressive scan and a HD tv (but they're not mainstream, correct?) Right, the Xbox is sooooo much more expensive with a DVD drive compared to the Gamecube without one.

Did you even look at the compatability list. Look at all the problems PS2 has with DVDs. XBOX has a few too. Funny it has the same problem with Snow White that XP had before a patch was released on Windows Update.

Only becase 80% of the games are for kids and the hardware is limited to what I need. Get real. I can not take my PS2 and DVD player to work... to much of a hassle.

So let me get this straight. You are so niave. You hate:

Nvidia
Intel
PC Games (although no video game matches Quake 3)
Xbox
Playstation
Windows
Microsoft

If you hate all this stuff you need to go somewhere else. Rather you want to admit it or not, Nintendo is light years behind Xbox and evn Sony in terms of technology.

I will give you this... a gamecube would make a nice doorstop. Even has a handle so it would make a great frisbee to.

I hate Nvidia, Intel and Microsoft. Even though I hate Microsoft I like XP.

I am sick of arguing with naive Nintendo haters. How can a Mac lover hate a gaming system that is similar to Mac in hardware? Enjoy your XBOX although it is actually a Windows 2000 PC that connects to your TV.
