Toon-XP "facelift", anyone have a clue when approx?

Friday, April 11, 2003 by Phydeaux_3 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I come here each & every day waiting & wishing & hoping that the Toon-XP makeover will be announced, does anyone have any idea approximately when this might happen? Also, what exactly will it entail? I'm hoping for CursorXP & LogonStudio themes, is this too much to hope for?

Oh yeah, another thing, WindowBlinds 4 *seems* to have fixed my 'line over the taskbar' issue. So far (touch wood)[knocks on own head] I haven't had to unlock/relock my taskbar at startup even once since upgrading to the newest release.
Thank Jebus, someone up there is listening...

Tonn XP 'facelift' sounds like a damn fine idea....it really is an awesome 'integrated' suite!

I would really like to see an expanded icon suite that covers most of the usual software packages.....the suite looks brilliant on my pc, I'm using WB4 and IP primarily and the icons look a little weird.......any chance of that....?

Brilliant suite though......the community needs more complete integrated styles like this one!!!

Toon Xp is one of my favorites Especially the icons ... but I prefer Pix OS... so much more work went into that one (seemingly)... but I bought both of them... and I try to switch my skins around often so I don't get board... usually between those, and a few others... Pixtudio and Mormegil are some of my favorite skin authors... they seem to put as many little touches into their skins as possible, things that other people would over look, and things that make the skins perfect, and complete most

I love Toon myself and hope they do a "facelift" myself. Now that WB4 is officially out they can go in and clean up the new/old errors in the skin, some of which Im sure are due to changes made during various steps in wb beta. One thing Id really like to see is a completely seprate OB theme file where every bit of the graphics it uses are stored seprately. Then I could just open the Dir and repaint everything blue to match Custom Toon in blue hehe. As is Ive been able to edit it a little bit so at least the bars background is blue but things like mouse over a button and when something is highlighted in flyouts its in black( like the custom color theme before you apply color) not blue. I know its a minor issue to most but its a pet peeve with me trying to fix it hehe

ToonXP wblinds skin was built at first version of Wblinds supporting ShellStyles, so Alpha version, it's normal there is tons of bugs now.

oh I know and in fact is why I mentioned they (the errors/bugs) were due to changes in WB not you or your art. There are a few peices of art missing tho that be nice to have for custom color color tho, I duped the images and edited em and the theme to fix for myself but took forever for me to figure out a way to do it and not mess up the rest of the stuff hehe.

"ToonXP wblinds skin was built at first version of Wblinds supporting ShellStyles, so Alpha version, it's normal there is tons of bugs now. "

being a skin with a price tag, I imagine peeps who purchased the skin deserve an update to at least fix those bugs, it was afterall advertised as supporting those wb4 features.

ask Stardock to pay Pixtudio to do an update.

who said it wasn't complete??? The only thing wrong with it is the log off screen in WindowBlinds, and that can be fixed by anyone with a knowledge on how to change the file name And toon XP is quite good from my opinion

ASeems some people are never happy.
As far as I recall there are only 2 REAL suites....where virtually EVERY proggy skinnable was done.....both by 'Community Skin', a group of 30 or so skinners, each doing a 'few' of them......'Formula One', and the biggie 'Heavy Equipment'....eg the latter had 3 LiteSTEP themes alone....and proggies as obscure/rare as CD Stomper...

Suites created by one or two, or maybe three skinners are unlikely to be quite as extensive...

zman, perhaps he could of used a diffrent word from complete but there are issues with the skin besides the one issue you mention. Not only is the one image messed up for log off also missing things like custom color Task panel or Dropdown box's, No transparency to address bar type dropdowns as well (ie instead of a nice button on a colored taskbar I get a Blue taskbar with a Grey boxed yellow button with a RED edge strip) and a few other minor things. Think most of us are not looking for a whole lot just a final tweak now that WB4 is out to fix the errors that turned up tween Alpha and release and an update to make sure all the files are there. If you think Im imagining things open the skin in Skinstudio. Last time I looked "analyze theme pulled up 47 issues" most likely due to wb changes, simple things but still daunting for a person with no skin experience to try and self fix.

the skin was build at a time there was no shell style suppport, with color customize suppport. Later Brad wanted an update for the new incoming shell style but still buggy because of Alpha, it was the most perfect at the time it was deliver.

so its really that hard to fix? I didnt buy it, so it doesnt affect me, just seems to me that some individuals may have bought the skin because it was advertised as working with wb4 features, and here we have wb4 and it doesnt work properly. Dissapointing, I'll definitly keep this in mind on future suite releases.

Thornz....WB4 was not released as a 'final' until after the suite release. The skinners are not/were not mind readers who could pre-empt potential changes...

Thornz, if you boss pay you to make a job and it has to be redone later because they change their machine, you have to work extra time over, are you going to do it for free and say this is my fault I have to do it?

Sure we make free skins, but this does not means when we have project we have been paid for to make the updates for free.

Exactly, most of us understand that some of the things were changed in programs NOT in the theme creators control and we aren't "Blaming" anyone. We are hopeing to hear that they do plan to refresh it to make sure any missing grapic's are back and any changes made in wb4 that broke things fixable are fixed...thats all Im asking for anyway. That a cursor theme, logins, WMP and a few others mentioned at diff times might come at some point are extra's appreciated but not required or part of what I bought so Im not grippin on those items.
