Axialis Icon WorkShop is French!

I downloaded icon workshop & liked it because I could easily batch convert mac icons to png's or ico's, so when my trial period was up I deceided to buy it ( like I should)BUT I found out they charge only euro's because they are French, so I decided NO WAY I'm gonna suport the French! Can anyone recommend another program with the same or better capabilities ??

Here's two FACTS for you, just to put 'things' into perspective.
The French secret service instigated an ACT OF WAR on foreign 'soil' by blowing up the Rainbow Warrior and thereby killing a photographer, in a New Zealand port.
Utterly indefensible action which should have resulted in criminal action for capital crime. The act of simply attacking a ship is classified as Piracy which still carries a Death Penalty.
Their agents got bugger-all, a few weeks 'vacation' on a tropical Isle...yeah, right.
Fact two.
LiteSTEP was created by a Frenchman [LoneRunnr], but that doesn't stop me from using it and/or enjoying it.
So what if a Program is French? Funds from its purchase are not going into financing Nuclear armament.
Heaven forbid....exactly WHO has all [most] of the Nuclear capability, forever leaving the world with the REAL realization that 'Man' has the capability to wipe life of any sort totally from the face of this planet several times over?
Won't stop me buying US Proggies, either.

May I intervene? Everyone here is partially right...except the part where you are arguing about it! 
Axialis Icon workshop is kick butt....so are a lot of French wines
Bakerstreet is boycotting the French for their conduct on the world stage that directly affected the US and is exercising what he believes is the right thing to do as an American. Nothing wrong with that and I cheer him on! There are a lot of people doing the same thing and it makes sense from that standpoint to mention that fact. This is not a racist or ethnic issue, it's a patriotic one.
Quite simply put, "IMHO", Axialis Icon workshop is the best...but it is a French product, so ya have to make up your own mind whether you want to use it or not if that even makes a difference to you. If someone thinks there is a better Icon maker, then recommend it, and let the individual make up their own mind which one they like best.

whats wrong with Icon workshop. I think it does Mac icons too right??
Oh and by the way, this was, without a doubt the funniest thread I have ever seen.
I never seen something get so out of hand in 10 posts at the begining of a thread.
Of course all of this could have been ovoided if the tone of the thread at the beginning

Now if you wanted to ovoid all French products that would seem more wholistic, but pointing out one company that acctually does good work while ignoring others seems... off.

I found out that Axialis is a French company and I decided not to use it in protest. Does anyone know of a program that is as good with the same features?

i'll say it one, last, time. The point in this post was a guy wanting to find an alternative to a program. Could have been any reason, it just happened to be one that rubbed some people the wrong way.
Sure, i'm tempted to go into why I stopped buying french products about 6 months ago, but I refuse to be baited into hijacking this guy's thread and turning it into a discussion about France. I think it 'rubbed' people the wrong way because of how he stated it.
As I stated before, in his initial post it really sounded like he was downing the company for being French as oppossed to not wanting to use the program becuase he was boycouting ALL French products.

You are a sad, sad, man hashonboat. This is just like whats happening to us Canadians. We are being boycotted by various companies simply because our gov't disagrees with the war. Disgusting is all I have to say about this topic. The sad part is, poor hashonboat was probably brainwashed by the US media, who is having everyone believe "if your not with us, your against us". Or is this really what you personally feel? If it is, I suggest you go see a shrink before you worry about another nations interests/positions.

The problem here is it seems by how he has written this thread is that it is a personal attack on the company for being French as oppossed to boycouting all Frecnh product with no offense to any piticular companies.

oh the difference is that in one isntance he doesn't want to use the product because it is from France. That is like saying, "Hey this is great, to bad its a frenchy product"
What I believe he was saying is, "While this product is good, I am boycoting the Frech government and its economy so I can not buy this product."

one way is sort of 'racist' because the company is bad just because it is based in france.
the other way is about boycoting all the products from a region not because the company is bad, but because you disagree with the goverment.

now if he wanted to boycot the company because it sold nuclear weapons to Iraq then that would be a direct action, but would have nothing to do with Axialis comeing from France.

Icon Workshop is the avowed best cross platform Icon design/conversion software on the market.

No, no one can recommend another program such as is requested because there is not one.
So one is left with either lowering the capabilities of the software and maybe using
two or more applications to come close to the functionality of Icon Workshop, or stick
with the program you've found does exactly what it is you seek, or skip the best and
dig through the rest.

and just for the record I DO support this war, but i don't believe anyone is wrong for not supporting it.
