Are people affraid to leave negative comments? And should the bar be raised?
Sunday, March 23, 2003 by Aaron W. | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
I have seen skins which almost appear to be farces. As if to step as close the line as possible before the Wincustomize skin-approving dudes just have to say "there's no way in heck this can be added to the WB skin library..."
So what is it? Are people afraid to tell these authors that they need to practice more, and ask them NOT to post every piece of work they create in the process?
I just find it strange that the skins aren't compared against the same standards as the wallpapers. I've had a few wallpapers rejected before, and I believed them to be far less unattractive than many of the skins which made it through the overly-porous sifter.
So does anyone agree that the bar should be raised for WB skins?

be constructive as you will, but be that and not negative, which is not a reflection upon those your speak of but actually a reflection upon your self in the end...
that pretty much goes with everything in life when dealing with or speaking of others...
anyway...

Yes I think people are afraid to leave negative comments. I have never left any comments about skins at all. But if I was as good as Jafo or BoXXi I would say something negative about a peice of worked if it SUCKED.
I think another aspect is the admins. On this site if you say anything negative one of three things happen. One, you get your head chewed of and handed to you. Two, you get a big warning to cease and desist. Three, you get exiled. So that means to some of us that we have to keep our mouth shut and smile in fear of being exiled. I have problems with a few people here. I don't say anything because of that fact.

Personal attacks WILL get you exiled....Foul, abusive comments on works WILL get you exiled.
Negative opinion on just about anything won't raise an eyebrow.
I'm certain there is a prevalence of 'not wanting to upset the admins' with ANY form of critical comment on their [the admin's] works.
Clearly people are of the opinion that any such comment would come back to bite them as if the admins are vindictive.
We are not.....not at all.
The only people to actually get forcibly ejected from the site have generally been attacking other members, not admins....like Good old Scott Sproat [oops...mentioned his name...now I'll get more hate mail from him]...

Sometimes allegedly 'innocent' remarks are as beneficial as 'when in doubt - format c:'.
It'd be nice [euphoric, even] if help or assistance didn't come with a subtext, that's all...

But for the life of me I can not figure out why it is that people feel so oppressed and still want to login?
It is not as if anyone is swapping spit, it is not as if anyone is paying anyone else off to do as they please.
I do know that I can read only so many times about how negative I might get and blame it on others, before I have to wake up to the fact that I need to take a look at myself and see what it is about me that I can do to change things.
anyway...
Life is like a box of chocolates, you open the sucker up and leave it in the fridge only to find the next time you go to pick one out, some rat fink has tasted each one and put them back.
Kevin and Slice do that all the time...

I just had to be the one to do that. My first thread and it's gone to #100... Though ~20 or so seem to be odd little messages with no apparent meaning
Meh. 100 is 100. Post on.
