Am I wasting my time with a FAQ?

Tuesday, November 12, 2002 by Koasati | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I've been working on 3 FAQ pages. One for newbies, one for newbies that want to start skinning, and one specific to WC... why the 100meg cap, why am I getting server busy, and such. I'm still waiting for Brad to respond to an email I sent him, asking for permission for the WC FAQ. I won't post it without his approval.
Anyway, the question is, am I wasting my time? Will you guys and gals that answer the same questions over and over, send the newbies asking for help to the link? Will any of you help me out by submitting ideas for improvement, additional questions and the like? Will the newbies read it? Should I just get back to skinning something, and forget this?
Please respond, and tell me what you think.
oh yes.......... the first page as it stands right now is here http://koasati.net/faq1.htm
So ......what say ye, answerers of the redundant questions.

Not a waste of time. I would suggest keeping it concise, though. DevArt's FAQ is like War and Peace. I think that is almost worse than having none at all, since the screwiest people don't have the attention span for it ( I don't...)

Also, don't forget the people who will come here to gripe *about* what they read in the FAQ when they might never have had reason to otherwise. Since many people never hit the 100 meg limit, I wouldn't be surprised if the griping about that actually increased.

Isn't it a shame you can't auto-kick on a messageboard like you can on IRC? kickword: 'WTF?', '!!!!!!', etc.

LazyDawg....my 'real' concern was the 'Us' instead of 'we', but I'll ignore your mistake with 'pedantry', because THAT WOULD be petty..... Spell checker

I have this Spell checker icon specifically to bug people, and for no other reason...

Jafo goes off to keep a closer eye on this Koasati creature....says he's a Texan, I 'thought' he was homan....

Why does your typist have a green donkey.
Koasati, thanks, but I'm not from Texas; I'm a Brit, "Dawg" just goes better with "Lazy" than "Dog".

LazyDawg, just like you, I must pander to the feeble minded Americans who cannot spell 'arse'...

BTW....pity you Pommies forgot how to play Cricket.
I remember when they used to thrash us convicts, but, as with all subversives, we watch, and wait, biding our time....and then......

Forgot? I didn't think we ever did. (shoddy shoddy performance)
I assume you've seen the "rule adaptations" to allow for a more competitive second Test?

Are you sure you wouldn't like to change your name to Jafa?

feeble minded Americans...

this from the guy who lives in a country where the 'roos are too lazy to stand up most of the time, and just lay around in the shade

Kinrik....Yanks may be feeble minded, but we've got it all over ya.....we're a race of 'slack bastards'...'convicts', even....

I still think it would be fun if America got into playing Cricket....somehow I think it would come out looking like baseball...

LazyDawg....'rule adaptations'?
Do the Aussies have to tie their shoelaces together?...

Jafo...that's why velcro was invented...so the Aussies wouldn't have to spend two extra years in school learning how to tie shoelaces...

A couple of quick questions.

What is an author logo?

Wht is the preferred method of uploading multiple wallpaper resolutions? On the one hand a single zip is convienent, but it also forces users to waste download and costs WC extra transfer to send stuff people aren't gonna use.

I have a piece I just finished and think I am gonna go ahead and upload. Lemme know what the best way to to it would be. The zip for the big three resolutions would be huge.

I was told that you zip the different sizes in one zipped single upload. If you upload the same wall in different sizes separately, they will remove them.

Thanx Brad.

bakerstreet...author logo is a leftover from the Stardock skins site.... no longer used. Why the fields are still there is a mystery to me.
