How about something different?

Like a hightech theme. Think a Thredz/Giger/Capsula/Copperdeck mix.

Some of the youngins might not know what that's all about, but look'em up and learn from when skinning were about originality.

I'd assist, wherever needed/permitted. (Wallpaper? hehe)

I'm with the snowman on this one. Techy stuff...yeah.

Not lacking, more unimaginative.
Some skins/skinners do break the stride, but basically most skins are just "boxes" with varying color combos.

I admit that I am a massive oldschool skinosaur, and yes I miss the good old days where almost all skins submitted were different from the previous ones.
I've never understood peoples fascination with skins that looks just like what they already have, like those skins that mimic the default OS look.

Innovate. Don't imitate.

Considering all the fantastic skins already created...I.R.Braniac, Xiandi, Neone6 to name a few...somewhere along the line the molds got to be broken and a new one poured with eyes closed.

Easy. Taste differs,this is nothing wrong. Do not take one man's words as universal criteria. 

Frankly,I have "XP Forest" skin onto WB right now. Yes,it's almost 10 yrs skin,lacking of supporting Win 7. But,hell,I just like the way it looks now. What daya gonna do,hum??

I see no issue with reply #1, as it actually would be nice to see innovation in a contest rather than simple popularity.

I DO see issue with other comments, however...and would kindly suggest people cease with the name-calling...

Wow, really?  I make a thread about a community project and someone comes and makes a nasty comment about another skinner.  Community projects are a great way to for the community to do something together for others.  

Let me make it clear.  Check your ugly attitude or I'll remove you permanently from this site.

What was once is never more.  So goes the community, ever changing, moving on.  

So, lets get back to ideas for this community project.  

HIgh tech sounds good to me. Quite frankly, imho, "Modern" looks like crap so "Futuristic" would just have to look better.

Absolutely no colored rectangles, looking like construction paper cutouts.

I vote we force Po to finish the Roan WB, then we build from there.   We can blame skinhit if it don't work out!

Whatever the design of the theme, in my thinking, will be okay.   Lots of great skinners in the community that have no problem with 'pushing the envelope'.

It would be nice though that an accompanying skin be done for at least, but not limited to, every active SD customizing program or tool.  There are several good desktop programs out there that give the user lots of options.   

I see so much high tech these days. It is so cold and impersonal. This world was never so dark as when those who lust for power, forced their technology upon us as to herd us like sheep to our ultimate demise. There is nothing so beautiful to me these days, as an old Victorian home furnished completely with treasures of the skilled craftsmen who's heart and love defined true beauty for the ages. Now days , as I look around , I sometimes wonder what is real and what is illusion. I am just a small voice here I know, but I thought it worthwhile to express my opinion.

I just got a brainstorm! Casini, that little probe out by Saturn. All the pics sent back and that mysterious storm at the north pole. A theme based on the ringed planet. High tech not to mention stunningly beautiful. What say you guys. One suggestion.
