the reason why your bottom part is cut off is because you have pushed the left margin all the way over and probably past its limit.

how to fix it: reset the left margin back to zero, apply your skin, and THEN play with the left and right margins until you are happy.

not sure how high that bottom part is either, but if your skinning for xp only, it will be okay, if its vista and or windows 7 anything over 50pixels in height goes wonky with the text in the search box on the windows 7 and vista start menu.

also, a piece of advice concerning the allprograms button (the arrow you press to access the pop up files in the startmenu)

your startmenu dosent butt up against the pc edge on the left hand side (thats okay, its no problem) but... your problem will be the mouse

over colour when you mouse over the button, your best bet is to just have a simple 3 image button, not the large 3 state button that pushes the

text off (this is explained in my tut, so you will get what i mean) anyway, for this section, make sure you have a plain colour background for a smooth and undetectable mouse over, otherwise you will see a block of colour everytime you mouse over that button, and its.......well very

annoying and takes from the blinds beauty...

you will also have to adjust the left hand side text margins for that button too, so that colour dosent spill over the edge of the left hand side because

you have a png gap there.... (basically you will be moving that left hand text margin in over the png gap onto the blue part of the startmenu)

i think it will, cause it still will have the mouse over colour no matter what os he is in.....

Skinning the all prog mouseover image for Vista/Win7 will cancel out the mousover color.

thanks Vampothika  im trying to make any changes with the margins for 2 hours now with no effect maybee im just to dumb to understand them i dont know fact is im starting to hate them.
whenever i set the left  value for the bottom bar down to 0 and save it and apply the "skin" its missing out on the right side where the white pipe is.
setting the right value up in a positive value it shrinks.... setting the left in a positive things wont change at all until i reach 460 with the result that the white pipe is cutoff.Also is it even possible to work with negative values on those margins?
This whole margin thing totally frustrates me-Im going to be honest...  i hate it.

I have come across streched polygons in my life and fixed those, but this is a whole new category i simply cannot describe with words.

Edit: I changed the width of the top bar to be able to get bottom bar fully in, to achieve that i had to add values in margin that are negative -75466 i don’t know about that value  but that worked
I think i really need someone to help me with this margin stuff its driving me insane and i don’t get smart out of it.
Vampothika you mentioned there will be problems with the search bar in windows 7 ...just tested it and yes my startmenu collided with a truck again as soon as i type a letter in the box.

k10w3: I dont know if this is just me that doesnt get along with SkinStudio7 but when i try to make a wba backup like you said file make wba file ( for me its make wba package ( if i press it it opens a folder of skinstudio but it has no further option to change a name or press save/ also save as...only allows me to save the file in Skinstudio.but i guess that does the trick.

I still need to do plenty of stuff but this is where iam at currently.

Keep an eye on the potential for 'confused' light-sources...aka shadows in the wrong places - make sure they all match [angle, offset, etc].

I have some sort of a problem i wanted to make an animated startbutton so ive used photoshop animation exporetet it into png pieces... so far so good... now back in skinstudio when i try to use the frame builder and save the file as .tga my animation doesnt overlap it runs sideways from right to left.
Did i miss something ? photshop animation shows just fine but after using frame builder its mesed up and i cant find a diffrent option there.

This might be due to the wrong frame count, or the way you put them together.  It sometimes gets confusing because of the "focus and default" image, and where you need the animation to start and loop back to in the animation settings.

The tutorial is basically exactly what i have done only the image size is diffrent.
Just started a new dokument of the size of the tuorial - photoshop - play button everything fine.
Now importet all the png´s to framebuilder saved it. and again the same result only smaller in size.(I even put the grafik on the right side where voidcore´s startbutton is located

Thanks, Uvah.   I'm going to stick with the keyboard shortcut, since I deal with those all the time in my regular job, anyway.
