Wednesday, February 5, 2003 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Pixtudio has done it again. This OS style suite will please your eyes. This is the perfect suite for everyday use. PixOS is mostly for WindowsXP users so please carefully read the screenshot's descriptions.

The suite includes a graphical interface and a special edition of the Stardock Winstyles installer, so this suite will install automatically even if you do not have Winstyles.

PixOS supports Cursor XP, IconPackager, Logon XP, ObjectDock, ObjectBar, Sysmetrix, Trillian, Wallpapers and WindowBlinds.

The cost for PixOS is $9.75 USD and can be purchased from: https://secure.bmtmicro.com/ECommerce-OnSite/00958/9580008.html

Congratulation Renato, Johanne and Paul! Very nice work. Should be quite successful.

I like the suite very much. Great piece of work!
There are very few icons, though.
Even one for PowerPoint files (.ppt) is missing -- almost every other serious, certainly every professional (= $$ pay) suite covers at least the basic Office file formats. Maybe this is by omission ...

Suggestion: Mormegil, why don't you release an "extended icon pack" for e.g. $3.95 to satisfy the needs of people like me who absolutely have to have a seamless UI experience (... without every other icon visible on screen at a time violating the spirit of the suite)?

I'll second the comment by Werewolf -- NS/WS skins are needed badly.
Windows Media Player would be nice, too.
But then, it's also nice to have that GREAT Cursor XP cursor included with the suite. Can't always get everything at once, I guess ...

Jofte, did you notice that the icon set doesn't include icons for either Powerpoint it Access, but it does include an icon for a 5 inch floppy. How many of us using Windows XP still have a 5 inch floppy versus how many are using PowerPoint and Access?

Just an observation after purchasing. Danged if this isn't a nice suite.

Anyone now of a Winamp 2 (or 3) skin that will go with this gem, thanks.

I agree with the general comments that the suite rocks, but that there should be more to it. I willingly paid the 10 bucks, but then again I assumed that all of the basic icons would be covered. It would be great if you guys at Pixtudio could fill in some of the "gaps." I am glad there's a Logon included; that really adds to the whole "OS style suite" effect.

Again, really nice suite - very clean.

I hate to be the lone dissenter here, but I have purchased every suite that Pixtudio has released to date and I sincerely respect the ability of those involved at Pixtudio but I find this suite somewhat less appealing than those previously released. The reson I say this is lack of themes for DesktopX, WinStep or HoverDesk, which in my opinion were the cornerstone purpose of these theme packs.

Before you start flaming me for expressing this opinion, please know that I am not putting down the work they have done here, in fact it is at their usual level of excellence, and no, I could not do better, it's just that I have been looking forward to Pixtudio's next suite with anticipation and I am disappointed. Oh well, I look forward to the next suite.

PiXtudio, Really love the top-drawer design that exemplifies your style! Can't really use it though because as MogWaEE said, There's no DesktopX theme with it & I'm totally emersed in that app at the moment. Great design nonetheless! Thanks!

I also would like to see more icons, like those in the Toons theme, both for the IconPackage and the ObjectDock. Also, I don't think that they should cost extra since this theme is already a dollar more than the Toons theme, but it contained more things.

I'll echo what I said in the message board:

I bought it, and I'm not one to buy a suite, normally. It's VERY soothing to work with. The wall is a little *too* bland, but the skins are just so nice.

I do wish there were more icons, though. There just aren't enough file types. I am sticking with Orion as my icon set, since it has just about everything a growing boy needs.

I LOVE, LOVE LOVE the CursorXP theme. Very slick yet traditional enough to use every day.

I think I would have bought it just for the WB skin and CursorXP theme alone.

I would like thier themes better if they didnt have the themes name plastered over everything, it just ruins the apeal for me unfortunately .

hopefully they will skin winamp 2 and or 3 and the other parts they usually skin and allow those that have already paid (like me) free access to those added parts, because this is the sexiest looking skin suit ive ever laid eyes on.

ok, i paid for it, got a confirmation from BMT micro that credit card has been approved, etc. now what? some sort of activation key is needed to download the suite. where is it? it's not in the receipt from BMT micro. this is about as intuitive as....well, i can't think of anything, but it's not very intuitive, that's for sure!

after using this for a couple hours i have another suggestion, the trillian skin is lovely but the buttons on the chat window are to big even for 1024 res the chat windows take up like 20% of my screen as small as i can make them, someone needs to make a port of this combined with microscopic

chuckyboy81070 - The first time you buy from BMT Micro, they may call to verify you're not submitting a fraudulent request. If you didn't give them your correct phone number (as I did, heh), they will email you. Don't worry, I haven't gotten telemarketing calls on my cell...yet.
