I'm sick and tired of problems...

Sunday, October 26, 2008 by XX | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The wincustomize site keeps freezing and almost crash my browser each time I visit this site.

Why? Unfortunately this was not first time, it happened last year, and again 2 years ago. Why do wincustomize keep on keeping up the tradition of crashing my browser once a while? I'm seriously SICK of this damn freeze. IT people of wincustomize, find the root of this stupid freeze problem please...

It isn't the WC site that's causing this problem.  What browser are you using?  What OS and SP level?  What pc do you have?

supershaft I'm trying to assist the OP.  This site won't cause his browser to crash.  It may get slow now and then but, it won't crash someone's browser.

yes.... it does

7 years I had WC as my homepage but it causes too many ftreezes, pauses, etc, I had to crack and change my homepage.

It hasn't done that to me. Not with ie6,7 nor FF2,3 nor Oprea (multiple versions). It does slow down at times to a snail's pace but NEVER crashed me. Not once over 14 plus years.

Sorry for your problem but I'm far from convinced it's the site, NT.

I'm using ie7 and have never had a browser crash at WC.  I have at some other sites, Adobe being an example.  MS has admitted that ie7 has some issues on SOME systems on SOME sites.  IE8 is suppose to be fixing this.  The problem with ie8 is that some sites don't render properly yet without using the compatabilty button.

I hate to say it SuperShaft but you seem to be pissed off at everything.  Maybe try being congenial and being part of the group would help you get your issues solved.  If nothing else it would probably lower your blood pressure.

I use IE 7 and Google Chrome. No problems.

No crashes here, and I've used every single major browser on the web. From the 'fox to the Chrome, from Opera to Flock, IE to Safari , WC works for me.

Windows XP SP3.

I would just like to say that if the OP's problem is browser crashing that could be due to things such as excessive toolbars, plugins, lack of browser maintenance, connectivity problems with his ISP, outdated  system drivers such as used with a lan card and DSL modem for Internet access, and failure to update with MS and the pc manufacturer.

The web site itself isn't the cause of this problem (browser crashing) because if it were then it would be happening to many people.  If what the OP is complaining about is occasional site slowness then that does happen now and then.  Furthermore, if you look at my laundry list of system related issues and start there you will at least possibly eliminate your own net surfing habits and pc maintenance habits as the source of problems.

It crashes here also. Vista, Vista Ultimate and XP using IE7. Some of the page shows up and then it freezes, nothing in explorer is acessable (tool bars, links, back button). If I try to do anything the whole screen goes white and I get an error that says "Internet Explorer is not responding". I have to bring up the task manager to close it out. If I let it sit for about 10 minutes the page loads. All other site are working fine it's only this one I have a problem with. The only time it seems ok is late at night or early in the morning.

Yes everything is up to date, no plugins. Everything is the same as it always been.

On a side note I noticed that the GUIC website does the same thing.

I'm not seeing what you describe at all ALMonty.  How often do you delete temporary files, cookies and history from IE7?  How are you connecting to the Internet through a proxy server?  Are you behind some type of Lan based firewall?

Its definitely WIncustomize site that is slow, try ESPN, MSNBC, etc, they are instant, the wincustomize site comes and goes,w hile i was on it this morning, i couldnt get the "windowblinds" gallery to open, came back about 20 mins later, and it was running well then, any other site that i visit on a regular basis loads at the speed it always does

You are absolutely correct

BD:  I am running through a DSL and the temporary files, cookies and history are cleaned about once a month, the firewall is running through my internet security. I just cleaned all my internet stuff And turned off the firewall with the same result the Home page loaded in about 4 minutes. I still don't think it has to do with anything on my end. Every other website I visit loads in about 5 seconds. Example: when I go to DA, for the page to completely load 4 1/2 seconds, MaxStyles about 3 seconds.

the Home page loaded in about 4 minutes

Next time it doesn't load properly, hit F5. Does it load immediately?

Yes it does. Here's a pic of what I'm seeing while I'm waiting for the page to load.
