I'm sick and tired of problems...

Sunday, October 26, 2008 by XX | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

The wincustomize site keeps freezing and almost crash my browser each time I visit this site.

Why? Unfortunately this was not first time, it happened last year, and again 2 years ago. Why do wincustomize keep on keeping up the tradition of crashing my browser once a while? I'm seriously SICK of this damn freeze. IT people of wincustomize, find the root of this stupid freeze problem please...

Got a script blocker running?

Like several others, I have become disenchanted with the loading of this site. It's a shame as I enjoy my visits here but these have become more infrequent over the past few months due to mainly the speed factor. It's nothing to do with my browser, plug-ins etc etc as every other website (including other similar graphics intense sites) I visit, load much faster on my high speed internet connection. It's purely a Wincustomiae thing. I saw recently in a news item that the servers were being moved. I hope this fixes the matter otherwise it will be hard to justify renewing my subscription to the site. I know I'm not the only one that feels like this. And as ALMonty points out it was the same with the GUIC site the other night.

I have Disable script debugging in Internet Explorer and other checked in the Internet tools/Advance. If that's what you mean.

mainly the speed factor

There's no doubt this is not the fastest horse in the race (far from it), but some seem to have 'more severe' access problems then the rest of us.

If that's what you mean.

Actually, I was referring to your browser security settings and any other security apps you have running.

Open Impulse/ Forums....does it load immediately on a consistent basis?

What I noticed about the GUIC website in IE7 at the bottom in the status bar it stops at 45 items to load. It seems like the advertisement at the top of the page is slow loading which was SnagIt. A couple of seconds after it finishes the page loads fine.

Funny we're talking about a couple of minutes or seconds. Like I have some place to go.

Experiencing very dramatic swings in load times here, sometimes blazing fast, sometimes slow as hell, when slow I do get browser freezes, no crashes, longest freeze about 30 seconds.

Like I have some place to go

....we're all going somewhere....some sooner then others.......

Those pesky 'Web Protection' programs that everyone and their brothers are including in their AV and Suite apps....you know....the one's that protect us from ourselves....create a bit of havoc on some sites. That's not to say that WC is one of them.....ever notice the Stardock Corp site pops up immediately.....first time...everytime. Hmmmmmm......

Hell, for all I know, Pat forgot to feed the hamsters and they're all dead.........

Actually it loaded pretty fast. The only thing I don't use the Impulse forums. It says my last reply was Oct 21. This thread isn't even in there.

I have never had WC crash a browser, only sites that do that for me occasionally are video heavy sites.  The servers were switched over last week, and I know before I went on vacation that there were still a few issues left to work out.

Yrag, Neowin's forums are fine for me, speed-wise. WC forums load far slower than those at Neowin. Strange how many of us have different experiences.

Interesting, it would seem there is something unusual with the WC site that blocks the tracert from completing.  I get good access times to the WC Home page.

i too am getting frustrated with the slowness of WC, i have never had it crash my browser but it takes an age to load at times, regardless of which browser i use, tried it on FF, opera, IE8, Maxthon, seamonkey, chrome and safari and it's sloooooooow.

each of my browsers are plugin/toolbar free as i don't like all the extra crap and all other sites load lightning fast even if they are graphically intensive. Hopefully something will be done to correct this

For those of you reporting problems with WC and IE7 what are your Internet Security and Privacy settings in IE7?  Are they set too high for WC?

I have my Internet Security set to medium-high and my Privacy setting for cookies is medium.
