I read once that generaly if they get rated by the mods at 2 1/2 stars, they make it into the main gallery, but I've seen walls rated lower and still go on the main gallery. Dunno.....guess maybe it's like Zubaz said "luck of the draw".
You can either try to figure it out or do like me; shrug and stop uploading wallpapers to wincustomize

Feel free to PM or email me your point of view, I would be interested.
BTW, The top one is not mine.

Good idea. I won't let this sort of thing keep me from trying. I will still upload them, so what if they go to PPO. I will get better in time and that will happen less. I am trying to take the advice of the great ZubaZ and branch out a little. So far, no luck with walls, WBs, RCs, or docks.

Actually, I find the grey center distracting. It looks like it was just kind of thrown in and doesn't compliment the wallpaper at all. The green one is very usable and simplistic in a pleasant way. IMHO.. which is why I'm not a mod. lol.
I'm confused. The top one says the author is HAPTORK in the main gallery?
Reply #13 Saturday, July 12, 2008 11:41 AM
The green is Jims, the grey is Haptorks, the grey must be in the main gallery and Jim is wondering why his didn't make it since it's, in his opinion, about the same quality. That's as near as I can figure anyway. Give him a personal page elite award.

You sound just like Gov. Arnold HG!

Correct, and Jim just had 2 more wall sets added to his PPO. I have a PP Award already, liked the joke. And I will be good and not try to cause a stink. Wouldn't do any good anyway. But I must say that IMO, all 4 of my recent wall sets are of higher quality than alot of walls that made it to the gallery. It reminds me of the inCognito wall by Buzz that was, IMO, a very high quality wall that didn't make it. I know I am in good company, but it seems as though the walls get passed or failed purely on personal preference, rather than quality. I am , and always have been, a lover of guitar. I don't like Chet Atkins' music, but he is very good at what he does, so I rate him high. I would not give him a low rate, just because I don't like his style, because, for his style, he is a master. Just a thought.

The walls moderation is probably the most personal of the galleries. It's not like a wallpaper can not work like a WB or DX widget.

The walls I speak of are not fractals, which seem to be popular. It shouldn't be about how much skill is needed to produce the wall, or how long it takes. That's absurd! It should be about QUALITY and usability. All the mods should moderate by the same guidlines so that there is uniformity in what is passed, and what is failed. BTW, if I knew what was wrong with them, could I correct them and reup? Someone suggested that they would not go back thru moderation.

With skins for WB, any mod can check for the same things: Does it work? Is everything skinned? Is it usable? And finally does it look good? For walls it's mostly: Is is a valid resolution? Is it usable? Does it look good?
Walls, by definition, are more about personal taste (the artist's, the moderator's, and the user's). That's why most are reviewed by more than one mod and there's more discussion about them (and why they sometimes take longer to go through moderation).

This thread is disappointing. It's not what I expect from a WinCustomize Apprentice
