female skinners

I am just wondering, are there any master female skinners? and how long will it take before females are recognized as equals as males on this site, and get promoted almost as fast as the males........ As a female, i personally dont believe that we are. I feel that its very hard to be recognized as a serious skinner being female......

The people doing the promotions do not appear to do so based on gender. Some have even stated so in this thread. Furthermore, once you start counting up the days/months/years between promotions you'll lose sight of what's supposed to be important; that is, skinning because you love it and not for notoriety. Recognition is great but it shouldn't be all you're shooting for. I don't think making Master on WC should be the make or break highlight of your skinning career. If you are really talented it is not a question of IF you'll be promoted/recognized but when. If there is a better system than the one we have, I'm all for it, but statistics don't always reflect quality. Sometimes there is no adequate substitute to good human judgment.
As for there not being enough females on the site, I don't think that's the staff's problem. If they didn't have to go out and specifically 'recruit' men to come to the site they shouldn't have to do that to get the women on here. People are drawn here for their own reasons, and if that reason is based on the ratio between men and women that's that individual's problem. I can see that there are more men than women here but that didn't stop me from joining up nor will it deter me from sticking around. I don't even see how leaving or quitting helps the situation. Seems more counter-productive than anything else. I think if we want more women here, the women already here have to be more visible. If your not active in the forums/community how will I know you exist? You don't have to be as loud as a squeaky wheel. I only know a handful of the women on this site and that is mostly from their being active on the forums and my taking the time to view their profiles and learning who else they know. I don't consider them to be squeaky wheels but they are definitely a presence here (and a welcome one at that). If I don't have the time to be seen and heard from often, I would accept that will have something to do with my not being known very well or recognized. I don't have a real beef about the ratio between men and women here but I would love to see more women on the site.
Suggestions on how to do that? Well, I must say that after reading through this thread the other day I did feel the need to check out more profiles and give a shout out to the women who's work I admire. Seems like the best place to start, to me. Just good old acquaintanceship.

It could be that skinning has been predominately male Because typically males are more likely to be out spoken and easily blabber on in places like forums etc.. where majority of females are more reserved when it comes to opening up on the net.. Once they feel comfortable, they open up and they are a welcome and much needed Part of any community, as they often see things their male counter parts do not...

This thread is actually one of the GOOD ones...as it's all about skinners and what makes them so.
I'm still finding people I thought/assumed were one sex are actually the other [not from their work....but from their interaction on the site]. I'm sure there's some gender reassignments going on deliberately to confuse me....
We, as an online community use nicks which are seldom gender-specific, but as time goes on people will not just get to know their real names...but other info as well....just an example of a community growing together.
Over the years I've met people from all walks of life here...all colours, shapes and sizes. Skinning [and Wincustomize.com] is truly cosmopolitan and is only limited in that way by the [obvious] predominance of English as the 'official' language, but hey, Formula One's official language is the same...and THEY are based in France...
The reason we're adamant about anti-discrimination here is if you were to think of ANY social 'group' and ostracized it in some way you'd be driving off a section of the skinning community/skinners as well.
Wincustomize.com is not a site for WASPs...and were it to start to become one I'd be grabbing some commercial strength Baygon.....

I knew she was female - but, not for a long time.

With a user name like " Fairyy~ " I still get referred to as he, him and the oh so special " Thanks Dude " So user names pretty much won't help that gender thingie.

Bugger that, surveys cost too much, take too long....I'll organize for Mel Gibson to come in instead.
Anyhow, I'm getting sick and tired of this male - female debate....it is much ado about bugger all and has gone on far too long.
Apart from one or two obvious differences, there's not a lot to distinguish between male and female skinners, anyhow...so lets have no more of it, eh!
In fact, there's gonna be some new rules....the first of many starting with: no animosity or prejudice between men and women; there will be no segregation/male only - female only activities....etc, etc.
Now to get your new rule books, I want the guys to queue up over here....and the girls over here.
