WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback
Wednesday, August 1, 2007 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.
Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only. Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista. Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.
This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY. Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.
Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.
If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

I'm not demanding an immediate fix or anything like that, just confirmation that a fix is in the pipeline.
At some point I would like to be able to use all of the features on my new pc. but am prevented from doing so if WindowBlinds is installed because of a conflict between vista/windowblinds and the remote sensor (usb) for my media centre remote.
Thanks

It happens randomly to me in that the DWM service doesn't start after a week or so of having WB6 installed. I have to uninstall WB6 completely to make the automatic service start actually work.
I can then reinstall and all works fine for a while, then for no reason, DWM doesn't start and I lose transparency. Physically starting the service works, but next reboot it will be closed down again. Auto start is enabled as is recovery.

Love the new interface in the update today (Thurs, Aug 30) but the text is all white, and the background image/gradient is a baby blue to white fade.
This means that I cannot see but about the first 4-6 rows of text... anything below that is gone.
HELP! lol

I really like the new UI in this week's build. I do however think I've seen a reoccurance of a problem I had on early builds for Vista. Periodically when I reboot I don't get transparent taskbar. When thius happens I have to reset to Vista Aero. Then if it loads with transparency I can switch back to what ever WB skin I want. Sometimes though when I reset to Aero it doesn't come up transparent. Whan that happens I have to reboot and then Aero will be transparent and I can go back to a WB skin fine.

This morning however my computer, totally unprovoked, would not boot into Windows - I'd BSOD out with a win32k.sys -8e style error. A bit of Googling in safe mode let me find one person out there who had the same problem, had deactivated Windowblinds and all was well.
I did the same and my computer seems to be running normally again. Although I'm using Aero these days anyway, I liked the new WB beta and hope to see this issue resolved.
If this has been flagged before, I apologise for reposting.

And WB6 does not show correctly in Windows Titlebars which uses Unicode characters.
