WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback
Wednesday, August 1, 2007 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.
Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only. Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista. Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.
This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY. Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.
Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.
If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

Just make sure you reboot after the uninstall of WB 5. You will not have WB installed at all after that, but then you can install WB 6 and it seems to work fine.
It might not be the same for everyone, but that is what happened to me.

Yes, the latest build of SDC installed first and restarted before I did the install of WB 6.
I've NEVER had a problem with new builds of WB, but this time after install all I got was Classic. So I had to uninstall WB6, then reinstall again.
It seems to be working fine now, but it wasn't "seamless" here...I hope there aren't many others with the problem.

After all this time waiting and waiting for WB6 and it still does not support Vista 64 bit. More than just a little disappointing. But then again, us Vista 64 bit users are in the minority and not a priority. Empty promises or did I completely mis-read everything that has been posted. Oh well, I'm pretty much past caring at this point.
Is it a BETA, what do you expect? As you mention x32 is still the majority so they will obviously cater to that part of the market first.

Nobody promised that the first beta of WB6 would support 64 bit Vista. The final version of WB6 will support 64 bit Vista, but for now you need to continue to use WB 5.51 which does support 64 bit Vista (and 64 bit XP)
It makes sense for betas to be 32 bit initially as it reduces the amount of variables in testing.

That's exactly how the install went for me. But so far every thing seems to work just fine for me.
Using SDC version 2.46.471 build 154

But that skin was totally busted. I had to unload WB, delete the skin from the computer, reload the skin into WB, and then re-apply it and it was displaying fine.
