Truisms

Where I'm from they call these "Hard Sayings"

Monday, May 1, 2006 by Bandit4edu | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I know we have a words to live by thread and a movie quotes thread, but I hate to see this core wisdom left out. Maybe you have seen this type of knowledge on a t-shirt or spray painted on an underpass, neither of which make them less useful. I'll start this with a couple of my favorites...then y'all just have at it:

1. Never Play Leapfrog with a Unicorn.

2. Never hold a cat while cranking a chainsaw.

Just to be clear, the post does not have to contain the word "never"...just be a universal truism with a tinge of humor.

I put this one in Words to Live By yesterday, but it should have gone here:

It's hard to play small ball when nobody gets on base...

It would hurt if it did not, though...
For example:
Play Leapfrog with a Unicorn.

OUCH!

Jafo's reply made me think of one I heard sometime from someone or other:

The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

or spray painted on an underpass

At first glance, I thought this said "spray painted on underpants.
This of course leads to another truism of what not to do, (especially from the inside).
