I tried it, and render was about 3 to 5 hours a frame. Bryce aren't good on rendering speed. 
This one uses a light and a morphing shape, literally, to create that effect. It was a nifty trick I discovered by accident while trying to speed up render time. I know that other programs are much better, but Bryce is only program I use.
