Explain - what does it do or not do .

What is the full numbered version of Windows ( use winver.exe for that info )

what version of DeskScapes ?

Same for me - also Win 10 64 bit (20H2 build 19042.928). I'm on DeskScapes 8.

No error messages - the already playing video just freezes and this one never starts playing.

By way of an update, I purchased and installed Deskscapes 10, and when I try to set this video as background I get a 'No suitable decoder found' error message...

Sorry you are having issues

Would you do this PURGE for all versions https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

Reboot , test and report back please .

Did the purge no problem, and restarted my PC.

Then battled through the re-install (endless error messages (mostly 'Unknown decompresson error'), same errors as original install), managed to click through all of them and got app back up and running, and got exactly the same error as before when trying this video - about no suitable decoder being found. The error message directs you to the MS App Store to install the MPEG-2 decoder, but it's already installed.

This is the only video that this error occurs on, so surely it's something specific to the way this file was encoded?


As an aside about the error messages when installing Deskscapes 10, I followed the Support link and sent a detailed email with screenshots and descriptions of what happened and when and what I tried. In response I got an automated email  saying no ticket was created, meaning Stardock have no interest in the issue, which frankly I found disgusting!

As a further aside, at one point when battling the errors I tried going back to Deskscapes 8, and it re-installed fine, so it's definitely an issue with Deskscapes 10.
