looks good - very stylish
you can attach files to your objects when you create them, this includes font files which will then be automatically installed on the users pc when the theme/object is installed. Copy the font file out of your font folder into a seperate directory (doesn't matter where as it's only temporary) then right click any object, go to the summary tab and click the "custom files" button and browse for the font

Comment #8 Thursday, June 10, 2004 11:04 PM
mike...right click on the individual tcp histograms to open up their 'properties'.
In the 'GENERAL' tab, under 'additional abilities' you will see the heading 'Graphical Performance Meters' click on that and choose to 'configure'.
In the new box that opens, the tab 'DATA SOURCE' and click on 'CHANGE'. There you will find your RAS ports. Play around with ing from different options there to find the port of you puters TCP. Hopefully that is of help.

Farnie and Neroximo... This screenshot was taken of my computer....the DesktopX objects arethe 'sidebar', rainy, and calendar...
The start panel, taskbar and internal windows styles are created through'WindowBlinds', NOT DesktopX.
Go to the following link.. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=Dark+Industry&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=1 and you should find the skin for taskbar and internals that match this. Cheerz

I downloaded this and all I get is the side dock bar, but nothing else,,, no background wallpaper or the other two objects as seen in the screenshot. Do I have to download these seperately? if so where? (There are 1,000's of objects on this site.)

CWolfe...The zip file does include the wall paper..I just checked the zip and it is in there (put it on ur computere using your Display Settings. As well...the two obects that you cant find..the weather object and calendar, are actually popups that extend from the side bar (the 3rd and 4th buttons on the right hand side of the side bar open and close these objects. The explanations of how to use this shouls also be in the zip file and a few themes down under this location...please read them to get an idea of how it works..https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=Dark+Industry+&sort=Skin&order=Descending&library=31
Hope that helpz you out, cheerz.

Greetings, cybermessiah.

I'd like to use this excellent theme, but I'm having a few problems the files haven't covered.

1) The theme doesn't change the way my taskbar etc. looks such as in the scrn shot

2) The buttons on the right dock bar (in the 4 rows of buttons on bottom) do absolutely nothing, (except for the Explorer button) and the ones in the top row only give me errors such as: "cannot find Documents/cybermessiah/AUDIO (or SYSTEM or INTERNET) the rest do nothing at all...?

I'm not really familiar with this stuff, but can you let me know why I'm getting the errors and why the rest of the buttons do not work?

...and this theme is certainly one of the best, I believe.

TentacleMenace...Hope this helpz u out..
1.In order to change the taskbar, startmenue and internal windows, you need to download and apply the matching Dark industry WindowBlinds... https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=Dark+Industry&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=1.

2.The four rows of buttons point to programs you have on your computer, ie. shortcuts.and work exactly the same way any shortcut would. If you dont have the corresponding program on your computer you are going to get the 'cannot find' message. You need to change the shortcut to corresond with the program you want to open...here is how..

a)rightclick on the button you want to change the shortcut.

c)in the dialoge box that opens (under the 'General tab), you will see 'Location'. Click "Browse" and navigate to the application that you want that button to be shortcut too.

d)in the bottom Rhight hand corner, click 'APPLY', and now that button should be shortcut to the one you want.

Obviously the button picture doesnt now match the application, but in the zip file for this theme, I included template buttons that you can use to create your own buttons (there is also a small tutorial in the zip of how to do this).

P.S its a very good idea to save the the changes to your theme once you make the changes, or after each small change, as I find DesktopX can crash occassionally while making changes, and you will loose the changes made...thats desktopX's problem... not the theme.
To save the changes permanantly ...

a) the whole sidebar with mouse right click (the whole sidebar should go dark)

b)from the right click menu 'export'.

c) in the dialogue box that opens, choose 'Export as a packaged object(.dxpack)' and choose 'ed and related', then 'NEXT'.

d) type a name you want to save the .dxpack as or use 'BROWSE' to choose an already existing object to overwrite.
The object will now be saved in your 'DesktopX' program directory in the "Objects" Folder.

To import the newly created object,

a)On your TASSKBAR, rightclick on the DesktopX icon and from the menu, 'Import Object'.

b0in the window that opens, browse down and doubleclick on the object you want to import (the newly created sidebar with ur changes).

PS..Make sure that the original sidebar is NOT loaded onscreen, as this will cause conflicts when loading the new sidebar.

I hope that helpz u out.

hi... Really nice theme!!!
I read what u said about how to change TCP histograms but when i do what u said, there s no graphical functions listed, and i exactly right click on the TCP histogramm panel, if i try to add a histogram, it replaces the whole bar...
I got problems too whith changing the weather location, i tried several zip codes and nothing happens. I tried to set it for my country (france) but i didn t manage to do it...
Any advices? thx
