ObjectDock submit rejected!!!
Sunday, December 25, 2005 by Phoenixheart | Discussion: Community
The reason was, as they said, file must be in ZIP format, when I uploaded pure PNG. But how about this guy?https://www.wincustomize.com/download.aspx?LibID=29&SkinID=8913
[Note: link died, as was taken care of
His work is in PNG, not zipped.
I'm totally discouraged. Please help!

| The Misc Icon library is for ICO only |
Does this include PNG's?
I submit the OD Icon's in PNG format.

I do think that the Misc Icons section should remain ICO only, and Dock Icons should have a section, if for no other reason than minimizing confusion for newbies. It may be a simple thing to convert a PNG to ICO, but for someone just getting into this stuff it might seem like a lot to deal with just to change their Recycle Bin icon.
Seperate sections should keep the "WHY CAN'T I USE THIS COOL ICON?????" threads down somewhat.

ICO only means ICO only. PNG is not ICO, is it?

Pardon the blasphemy , and correct me if I'm wrong.
Can't other dock programs use PNGs not just Object Dock?
I don't know for sure since the only dock I've tried is the free Object Dock.

I think all dock programs do use png. They can also be used with DX and IconX.
They are multi use not just for docks, so maybe a section for png icons that reflects the flexibility of them.

That's a very good point.

That makes sense.

In addition to that in the Misc Icon library I have often seen pngs come packaged along with icons.
But basically...no one else should even worry about it since I don't see this changing any time soon...its just a gripe I've had for some time now. At his point I'm contemplating just moving my docks out of Object'Icon'Dock to my gallery, and if the powers that be ever make an actual library for Object"Dock" then I'd move them in there.

Well then...I have a few more submissions I'm waiting to upload and then that will be it until the ObjectDock library gets the same respect as the other libraries. I'm just tired of docks & docklets getting buried by icons/pngs that already have they're own library. I will continue making docks, because I enjoy doing them, but I won't be uploading them anymore until ObjectDock gets its own library once and for all.

I understand your frustration, but as been said several times...... until something changes, there is no other library for PNG dock icons. They are not allowed in the Misc Icon library. And come to think of it, the Misc Icons library didn't exist until long after the ObjectDock library.

I've said it before, the Misc Icons section was meant for additional add-on packages for Icon Packager. Unfortunately the excellent 'icon a day' series opened the floodgates for people uploading single icons.
The Object Dock section was for all OD related items. No-one could foresee the huge number of icon uploads we currently get.
The whole thing has got messy and blurred. It's up to the 'powers that be' to sort it out

I submit 99% of my OD Icons to the ObjectDock Gallery. I had at one time, tried to submit my TSWOC Icons to the Misc. Gallery but was told that that particular gallery was intended for the 'odd' icon, not for folder icons and such. So I resubmitted them to the OD gallery and moved some of what was already in the Misc. Gallery over.
It makes perfect sense to me to seperate the galleries (icons, docks, etc).
i guess what I need to know now is, where do I submit the icons, being folder, desktop, etc., or program, software, other, etc?
