WinCustomize Subscription Drive: Day 3

128 and counting..

Monday, October 3, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

As we near the end of day 3, WinCustomize.com has 128 new/renewed subscribers.  To get to our 2000 goal we have to average 64 per day.  By subscribing to WinCustomize.com you not help keep WinCustomize.com up and running but you also get unlimited downloads, two premium suites plus a new one that that is being worked on, no advertisements on the site, a personal page, a personal photo album with 20 megabytes of disk space, a personal blog with your own partial domain name and more.  You also get the WinCustomize browser.

The WinCustomize browser is a unique program that taps directly into WinCustomize.com's database.  Not only does it quickly retrieve the most popular skins, the latest downloads, and our full directory of skins, themes, wallpapers, etc.  It is also able to directly apply that content.  Whether it be a wallpaper, a Windows Media Player skin, an icon package, or even a WindowBlinds skin, you can select a given skin, press a button and it'll instantly download and apply it for you (as long as you have the corresponding program installed and if not, it'll prompt you and download the program for you!). The Browser also integrates seamlessly into the WinCustomize forums.  It's the fastest, easiest way to access the forums on WinCustomize.

And if that wasn't enough, there's also the WinCustomize system tray notifier.  Simply load it up and it sits in your system tray notifying you when new content has come on-line (user settable).  The newest skins, the hottest themes, and latest news are always just a click away.

These are just some of the things user get for $19.95. It's an incredible variety of software, content, and site services.  In a world where many sites and services are charging $15 to $25 per month, WinCustomize provides a great deal of bang for the buck.

Bought meself a subscription a few days ago. I enjoy it immensely.

I like the fact that Stardock maintain an open dialogue with us and tell us their side of things. I mean they could have just upped the price or something, and never told us why. But by explaining the situation they at least got me as a customer because frankly, I want this site to continue to exist. I have used it as a visitor for long, it's time I give something back.
And to the people who visit the site regularly with no subscription; get one, it is worth it. The Wincustomize browser is a very good piece of software. In fact it rocks.

I bought an Object Desktop subscription to go with it as well. Been eyeing it for some time now, so I finally bought it and I am very pleased.

- Go to https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp and enter your username and password (the one which you use to login WC)and download and Install SDCentral (StarDock Central)

- In SDCentral, go to tools-->registration and from Wincustomize tab choose "Wincustomize Subscription.

- Enter the email address you used to subscribe and the key which has been sent to you.

- Click Update.

- You will get the expiry date of your subscription ... plus you can use SDC to check for the updates for ODNT, ThinkDesk, and WC Thingies.

Used my idea of showing screenshots of the browser Well maybe it was his owns as well. Anyway I was originally skeptical of buying into it when I first came here. Sure I was a registered user, but I didn't subscribe at first. I thought what is the big deal about a skin browser and a couple of free premium skins. It wasn't until I saw screenshots that I gave it a try. I haven't turned back since. It is simply the best way to peruse the site. On dailup the differences are even more dramatic, since you are only downloading the images/notes about each skin rather than the other page elements as well.

If you come here more than once a week, you owe yourself to spend the little bit of money it takes to become a subscriber.

Finally signed up today, been using Object Desktop and ObjectDock Plus for a few months now. Really happy with the products, even the WindowBlinds 5 BETA works fine! I'm not really interested in the premium suites or even the WC browser, I just figure that I use the site a lot to download skins (haven't tried making any yet, maybe one day) and I guess I feel that I owe it something. If signing up will keep this site running and ensure I'll keep getting access to all the skins and resources, then I'm sold!

I've said this before. Stardock needs a Paypal option.

that'd be a good idea, just depends on how much it would cost them i guess. I'm confident giving them my credit card details though...

Well some of us can't get credit cards. So we use Paypal. Dosen't anymore than a Credit Card transaction. Free to set up.

Free to set up, yes. But not free to withdrawl from the account. . Dunno how it could work out for them though. I've been a Paypal member since they've started and have a business premier account, payapl debit/credit card and all of that. And I still need to pay the "minimus" yet existing withdrawl fees to transfer from Paypal to my Checking Account.

Just subscribed to Wincustomise (er, Wincustomize, damn your `merican spelling). I'm an Object Desktop subscriber already and I love being able to mess with skins and change how Windows looks and feels so I believe it's worth paying for. And I don't think that it's a large amount of money, at the end of the day, paying for a years access for $19.95 is pretty damn good.

So for any of you reading that haven't only just tried any of the Object Desktop suite of stuff or are unsure about subscribing to Wincustomize, just go and do it . Get both even!

I also just installed the WC Browser and it's definitely convenient to look through your desired customisation. Definitely worth it people.

Paypal withdrawls have always been free for me. I just transfer money from my ebay sales to my bank. No charge.

paypal is cool, but not worldwide. (international as in it works in many places, but not worldwide as in it works everywhere!) wire transfer would be cool, even though i'm sure there might need to be "bank fee charges" added to the billing, and a term that explains that wincustomize/stardock can not validate the account until the payment has been accepted by the bank. i'm just suggesting, as it may open the door to even more customers? (and i really want this site to last!)

What if I have Object Desktop. Will I have to be "Limited" on my DL's? I have been coming to WC for at least a couple of years, and bought OD two years. I love WC and don't think it would be right to limit OD owners just because they haven't bought a subscription to WC. After all, if there wasn't an OD there wouldn't be a WC.
