Terrorism and London
large-scale terrorist attack targets London's transportation system
Thursday, July 7, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News
London UK was the target of terrorist attacks today. 37 people have died (so far) as a result of this attack. Various terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda, have claimed responsibility for the attack.
It's easy, even tempting, when one lives in another country or another continent to think of the whole thing as very far away. Such mindless destruction and hatred can have far-reaching effects. Not all that far from the attack is where WindowBlinds, WindowFX, IconPackager, Stardock Central, Theme Manager, and other programs that are used by millions of people are developed. Moreover, popular community helper, GreenReaper, had just left the London area to come to the US today.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims. One can only hope that the monsters who were involved in this senseless, hateful act are able to be brought to justice.

Once again, they went for a target that would present the greatest number of fatallities. It's been estimated that around 3 million ppl use the Tube (a popular term for the Underground) on a daily basis.
I ran across a quote a few days ago, for the life of me cant remember who said it, but it most definitely fits this situation. "Man's inhumanity to man, makes countless numbers mourn."
My condolences to those who have lost someone, or had someone injured in this senseless act of brutality. And my thoughts and prayers are not only with the victims, but also with those who will be affected by it, for a long time to come.

I was in London in September '73 ....and had to pass the billboards outside the tube stations warning to look out for suspicious packages....[IRA] ... following bombings way back then.
Nothing much changes, does it? 32 years later and I'm now 50 rather than 18 [I turned 19 while in London...still can't remember the pub-crawl]...and more terrorism.
Oz is determining whether to send the SAS back into Afghanastan shortly...so yet again the Land Downunder will be viewed as a target.....probably not a clever idea to party-on in Bali for a while.
One of the poor sods who was exitting Kings Cross as the bomb went off....he commented via phone to an Oz TV station....he'd also just been exitting the Sari Club in Bali...just as that one went off. It's probably a good time for him to just stay at home....

I hope the bastards die in a way they consider the worse way to die possible.

The world is becoming a more dangerous place which is why these apparent coincidences of being around terror and danger occur so much. Personally I was in Paris when the underground bombings took place in 1995, in London trains the day of a train crash in 2000, and in 2005 missed this by a day. I can only suggest that if you see me in a capital city in 2010 that you keep a safe distance!
My best wishes go to those of those affected, and thanks for all the international support that we as a country have received.

All I can say is I've not seen so many scared faces in a long time - reminded me of my days in South Africa's military when we sat in armoured vehicles watching rampaging mobs destroying peoples property, the other guys in my unit and I were scared witless (we had 7 rounds of ammunition apiece in SEALED magazines, ace!)
We live in a dangerous world now - more so than our baby-boomer parents ever have.

I live in Denmark, and have a very close friend in London, sadly, he was one of the victims of the bomb act, survived, thankyfully, and only have a scar on his face and a shock to deal with...
I simply can't understand what makes people tick like that. O' And Mr XX, I can tell you that the people who did it are allready dead, it was suicide bombs as far as I've heard.
I only hope that thiese bommers doesn't come to Denmark as they say they will.

All the media attention given the green light by (USA and UK governments) to show everything in detail on this event, but were not given the green light when the body count concerned those innocent men, women, and children killed and injured by USA and UK bombs.

Firedogs Ron & Son Jose ...not really an appropriate thread for such...and edited to reduce unwarranted font size and bold formatting.
Comparing 'police action' to 'terrorism' is profoundly myopic.

But, I'd like to remind the community here that parts of Asia have been experiencing these kinds of blatant killings for decades. I remember the 12th March, 1993 blasts in Mumbai: 13 detonations within 1 hour in various parts of the financial capital of India. The tragedy always looks greater when its closer home.
Just that it is time for people to wake up and recognise this as a global threat and not isolated incidents. How long is one supposed to live in the shadow of fear?

I know. I meant the people who planned it all, those who died with their bombs is just fools who followed them.

I almost lost my temper and chose to rant about this. Then, realizing that this is no more a place for my ranting, than their own, I chose to do so on my own space.

We cant be so arrogant or niave as to assume that those we war againts won't bring it, as they have warned, to our own home soil. It is the price of war..which is a hard truth to accept.
My heart goes out to any innocent person tragically affected, regardless of age, race, nationality or religion by the horror of this war.
P.S. This is not a subjective moralist viewpoint on who is right and who is wrong.

Why then have this ability to do so? Is it not a means for adding a touch of one'e "own personal expression"?

And am I to assume "you determine" what is, and what is not, an appropriate thread? Perhaps you should examine the author's story substance and determine whether the substance relates only to the title "Terrorism and London". In that, "...WindowBlinds, WindowFX, IconPackager, Stardock Central, Theme Manager, and other programs...".
Further, just how much study do you have from the Center for Strategic and International Studies?
