Internet Explorer problem...

ok, i got absolutly no idea what is going on with internet explorer, but one day it'll connect to the internet and i can sign on msn messenger. the next day it wont connect to the net and i cant get on msn. it also stops connecting halfway through on the net, without being provoked. ive looked on msn help and that sucked, and windows support was even worse.
even with all firewalls disabled it doesnt connect, and after various anti-virus and spyware scans, the search comes up blank and i still get the problem.
does anyone know what is going on and how i can solve it?

I have had a problem with ie since the last windows update.
The browser itself being the problem cannot even get onto windows update site, I can get there with netscape and my prefered browser opera but not explorer strange.
As said suspect it was the last windows update an apparent hotfix!!

Here is the fix for every problem you might encounter on the net.
Step 1:
Kill all the cookies, where ever they might be hiding.
Step 2:
Kill the temporary Internet files!!!!
Step 3:
Restart the computer.
Usually step 1 will solve connection problems. Only move to steps 2&3 if step one fails.
Step 4:
Throw the computer in the nearest dumpster, and try using a phone or carrier pigeon.
