hello im using a win xp os but i want it to look like a mac
ive got a lot of cool advice but what im really after is a way of changing the win xp taskbar to the top of the screen instead of the bottom

Obviously not someone that doesn't know how to get the taskbar to the top of the screen

and this presents a small paradox... help files are written to aid in performing the most remedial and basic tasks, yet the ones who need to read the help file never do!!!
but yeah kingbee, i'm not sure how long the task bar sticks to the top... i am quite curious as to how fast it falls though

It comes down eventually it falls instantly i dunno why it happens while ur comp is off on rare ocasions about 1ce a year

Opened Help. Went to index. Typed in 'task bar'. Clicked 'moving' then 'display' and what came up?
To move the taskbar
Right-click the taskbar.
On the menu that appears, click Lock the Taskbar to clear the check mark.
The taskbar is now unlocked. You can drag the taskbar to a new location on the desktop.

i opened "help and support" in the start menu, typed "move taskbar" into the search box, and i got exactly what Bichur found, verbatim...
so clearly there are multiple logical ways to find this in the windows help utility!

must be some kinda electromagnet just behind the screen. when you power down, the magnet stops working and, with nothin to hold it up, the task bar crashes to the bottom.
who woulda guessed it was made of magnetic material?

actually a prehelp help file wouldn't work either = same people wouldn't read them.
maybe a pop-up... you're clicking on stuff without actually doing anything or getting what you want done, over and over.... box pops up with "Do you need help?"

please... not ANOTHER reason for popups!!! and your idea sounds quite similar to MS Office's paper clip! that's funny though kingbee, about the pre-help help file. i understand what you meant now!

1) Click on an empty space on the taskbar and drag it to the top
2) If you're unable to do that - rightclick the taskbar and uncheck 'lock the taskbar' and repeat 1)
