What Laptop Would You Get?
Looking for a nice laptop

I am looking for a nice, small laptop that has a lot of features, such as the Dell Latitude x300, but without as high as a price. Any suggestions?

Doubt it. that Pentium is not 64 bit based as the AMD is.

AMD or MAC if you want power. The G5 processors for the MAC are 64bit bus (over a GB FSB) and 128bit core. AMD has max of 64. And Intel still at 32bit mobile by what I know, but I think they did finally come out with their 64bit mobile processor.

I originally wanted an AMD, but they seemed rather scarce. Found a good deal on a Toshiba Satellite with a Pentium 4.
If you plan on upgrading later, It will cost a lot more. (more than a desktop)
So if you can, get what you want in the puter when you buy it.
Something else to consider is power source. Batteries only last 2-4 hours and a 12 volt adapter will go from about $65 USD to over a hundred. It SHOULD come with a 120 volt adapter.

AMD is a superior chip in many ways and cheaper than Intel. These days you are simply paying for that Intel sticker on that laptop. Intel is desperately clambering to keep up with AMD these days.
Stick with AMD. An AMD chip and ATI vid card is an uber combo

Just to make a nice little post off here I jusg got one. Nope i dident listen to any reviews. I spent over a week doing my own, checking every product out. Looked at preconfigured models and then did my own. Finnaly i was checkign out what newegg had. I found the HP ZD8000 serise they had.
3.4 ghz 1meg cache
1 gig ram
100 gb hd
DVDRW/DL+_
Every bell and whistle modem, lan, wan, blue tooth, firewire, 4usb, pcmcia, DVR, remote control, sd, mmc,
you name it she has it. Aye its a she, be the first she laptop i have had. Now i just need to finish building her body and I'll be o..k....
ATI x600 with 128 mb
12 cell bettery
and the Kicker 17' WXGA screen.
It's bright, it stomps, i can use ti anywhere and at any time. This is the end all. ITs more powerfull then most peoples Desktops and has enough versatility i can work and play. The final end price 2300 with the extended 1 yr accidental dmg warrenty. I can say ya cant beat it. I runs cool even in my lap and i get nothing but ooo's and aaaahhhhs from everyone around. Even the mac ppl have to come feel the power.

You may want to get an iBook when they start coming out with Intel processors, they can run Windows and Mac.

go to a used computer store - you can find pretty good deals sometimes - or look in your local paper or local univsity/campus if people are selling stuff. sometimes they sell good things cheap cuz they have to get rid of them. i have a gateway solo 1450 - it's alright, but it's also 3 years old and i'm ready to replace it. it was great when it came out lol

I couldn't decide, so I spent about 12g's and bought four of em....it's great though never go anywhere without a computer. Yeah I needed that like I need a hole in my head

i'm selling my Gateway Solo laptop *was actually a good one, i've had it since 2002* it had a Intel Celeron processor. AMD is nice, that's what i put into my desktop. I'm replacing my Gateway laptop with an iBook

I just got a dell 2200 this week. i upgraded to 512 and 40 gig, and i got an internal wireless networking card. im very happy with it....it does what i need it to do, it does it quickly, and i'm not carrying functions that i won't use. I paid $850 or so for it.
i know that some of you techies are probably turning your noses up at me and my dell, but i'm very satisfied with it....so

was a solo 1450. i sold it for only $300 (local) - i live in Alaska lol shipping hella sucks to/from here. getting my iBook in a couple weeks *waiting till next paycheck so i can do a memory upgrade when i get it w/o making myself go broke lol - i've already found some solitaire games that look good for it)

I am finding that is the case, and I wouldn't mind a MAC, but nobody else around here uses MAC, so I would have some major compatibility issues... but when I get the money, I will probably consider getting a mac mini... but that's another day, another 500 dollars
