What Laptop Would You Get?
Looking for a nice laptop

I am looking for a nice, small laptop that has a lot of features, such as the Dell Latitude x300, but without as high as a price. Any suggestions?

Well, it comes down to what you prefer to pay, what you want, and how much more flexable you are. Either able to pay more money to get what you want or get as close as you can with the money you do have.

also, what's the difference between a celeron m and a pentium m processor?

Celeron is a dumb down version of the Pentium. Basically, they are the processors that aren't good enough to make the Pentium line for whatsoever reason.

Celerons are not very reliable. Friend's machine has a Celeron and it crashes every day and couldnt get it to work right right out of the box. It is very slow too, slower than the clock speed suggests and has very little cache.
So, basically Pentium is your best choice you will every make.
I say give up a couple hundered bucks to get the laptop you like and will last longer.

I was looking at the dell website and ran across the 600m, I think it is pretty good, and not too expensive. maybe that will be the one...

Look at www.Ibuypower.com, I've bought laptop and a desktop from them and they are by far the cheapest computers that I can find on the internet. They beat all the major companies in price and features. You may want to look into the AMD-64bit Mobile. I have gotten 4 hours out of the battery while watching DVD's on it. It very powerful, and has plenty of battery life.

I haven't really looked into an AMD based system, although my desktop is an AMD duron, maybe that is one I should consider, but do they have a processor like the Pentium mobile processor? If they did, I would definitely check it out.

I will tell you this much... Do not buy anything from HP. Unfortunately I bought an HP Laptop. Not a bad machine to begin with, but less than a month out of the box and I started having pixel problems on the diplay panel, they grew worse until I had a bad section accross the entire bottom of the screen. Then the Power Jack came loose from the motherboard. I think the machine has left my desk a total of 6 or seven times, traveled in a hard shelled foam case and never traveled out of my sight. HP tried to hijack me for $650 mobo cost, there are websites devoted to that very underhanded tactic. After fighting with them they eventually ate the cost of the repair, and returned my machine. Also do not even think about talking to an American based Tech Support person, or anyone that speaks good enough English, or is on a phone system that can be understood properly. I felt like my machine was being stolen from me. Never again wil I purchase any HP product. I only bought this model because I have several Compaqs, and owned a Compaq Notebook, that refused to die and figured that the tech had migrated into HPs' product line. Man...Was I ever wrong. Also My Uncle has bought three of those $700 all in one Desk Products, and something different on them has died within months of them being in service. POS if ya ask me. I wish I had bought a Dell again, like I intended. I have an older Inspiron that also is a tank and refuses to die. It's in my daughters room Sans, screen and still chugging along.

I just bought a Compaq like I think it was last Oct-Nov. I haven't had any problems. I also love this AMD 64 processor

If you really want a powerful machine that is small. Check out a MAC
Keep in mind, I don't have one, but I know a good bit about them. I'm thinking about getting one to have one. Probably a mini MAC just to play around with.

That thing wouldnt even be able to fit im my cars' glovebox.
