I use alot of different operating systems - depends what mood I'm in and if I have time to nuke my hard drive.

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 and on the other old computer there is Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.

Not installing any service packs leaves you open to a whole lot of vulnerabilities and bugs. Hell, you can't even use Windows Update without any service packs. How exactly are they evil anyway? I was wary about installing SP2 for several months, but did just over 24 hours ago, and I'm glad I did.

Windows XP Home, SP 1a on my laptop, Windows XP Home SP2 on one of the desktops, and XP Home SP 1a on the other.

I would have to agree with "Lady SnowMan??" LoL
Service packs are Evil! and I do not care for the fact that MS now requires you to have "Automatic Updates" turned on to update the SP you have.. I have SP1 installed..I will not install SP2 until I stop seeing all the issues people are having with it.
I have installed updates that have totally "Jacked" my machine so I am *very choosy about which ones I do install and I do them 1 at a time..

YuP, you can Island, and I most definitely do, but..to do the updates, until you turn the "Automatic" feature "On" Windows Update will not allow you to update windows..just a slight bothersome little MS deal..turn them on, turn them off, turn them on, turn them off..::laughs:: makes little sense actually..but I fear that in future OS's the "Off" option wont be an option..

well, it should be an option. otherwise, that OS is gonna face a downfall. 'cause if its missing that, its probably missing more than that.
