Both computers are running Windows XP SP2, My home built system doesn't seem to have a whole lot of issues with SP2, but there might be a couple that I still need to see if SP2 is the problem.

I also have Win98 on my home built computer as a multi-boot. (So I can play some of those old games )

Soon, I'll have SUSE 9.2 Pro on my server.

The games I'm talking about would be like 11th Hour, 7th Guest, games like that.

It has these blue, no black, no ...........um, kinda gold and silver frames with round and square things that react when I move the little arrow over them.

Windows(blinded)XP w/ SP2, nothing hacked so I can continue on my learning path towards an administrative level of understanding of the OS - about 2 or 3 years away (gotta know the registry, MMC console, and all the network goodies - Oh, yeah - and how to skin! I better add a couple more years to the mix).

Not installing any service packs leaves you open to a whole lot of vulnerabilities and bugs.

I've been using (a clean) XP for four years now, havent noticed anything out of the ordinary, havent seen any "bugs".
But I've seen my fair share of people having lotsa problems with both SP1 and SP2, so just give me one reason why I should "risk" having those problems too now that I've been running XP problem-free for four years.

Hell, you can't even use Windows Update without any service packs.

Quite frankly my dear, I dont give a damn about WinUpdate - I havent used it since I used Win95

I was wary about installing SP2 for several months, but did just over 24 hours ago, and I'm glad I did.

Well, good for you!

Zero - I'm just stating I DON'T have to turn on automatic updates to get windows updates via the MS update page. I have every available update with the exception of SP2.

Snowman - I agree.
