Anyone else use "Desktop Sidebar?"

With apologies if "everyone" here is aware of "Desktop Sidebar", but I only stumbled upon it the other day and it's brand new to me. Here's the Link: Link I've spent the last couple of days customizing it to include all the useful information and features I like to have handy. "Sysmetrix", unfortunately, didn't get along with my PC very well and now "DS" has allowed me to replace it as I can display the same performance meter applications, email, trash bin, etc. Really like, among its many built-in features and add-ons, the transparency levels and the way it can slide off my monitor if I don't want it to take up desktop space.

I wonder how popular, unpopular, or never-heard-of-it-before "DS" is among the community here. In my humble opinion, this skinnable application would be a very worthy inclusion to the catagories available on Wincustomize. (Hint...Hint).

That is, if enough people here use it.

I've tried Desktop Sidebar and SmartbarXP, but I haven't used them for too long at a time because they all got issues. With both of them I feel they are a bit sluggish. And my system is a 2.8GHz P4, 1GB RAM and ATI RADEON 9800

That's interesting, thomassen. I have 2.8 GHz P4 and 512MB RAM and I've noticed and recorded no sluggishness with this PC. If I did, I wouldn't have kept "DS". If anyone is prone to having 'issue's with software/applications, it's me and that's another reason I'm so enthusiastic about this one as it's working perfectly. Could be a 'first' during my 14 years of owning a computer. "DS" appears to be updated frequently. If you're interested, maybe the latest Build would work for you.

I use Desktop Sidebar, and notice nearly no sluggishness..
I got : AMD XP 2600 / 512mb

I like the program and already offer a few DS skins at my own skinning website...( I should be (one of the) the first who does that
DS isn't populair yet.. but I think they'll get there...

I've visited your website several times before and continue to enjoy it very much! In-between messages here, I downloaded the Searcher86-Longhorn Inspirat 2 skin and have it in place now.

Giving it another go. I allready had the latest version installed. (not the beta) It appears smoother than I remember.

I used it for awhile, but since I don't use all the meters, etc...I went back to objectbar. But it sure is a nice program for those who do use all the extra's.
