Thin Ice

Monday, March 7, 2005 by Sleeping Dragon | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

"If you should go skating on the thin ice of modern life, dragging behind you the silent reproach of a million tear stained eyes; don't be surprised when a crack in the ice appears under your feet. You slip out of your depth and out of your mind with your fears flowing out behind you as you claw the thin ice."

-Roger Waters ...or David Gilmour. I don't know.

And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry no feelings left
This species has amused itself to death

your fears flowing out behind you as you claw the thin ice.

Let us translate that line..
As you are clawing the thin ice after having fell through said crack you are in essence filling your pants with the sacred doo of frosted fillings.

Floyd is always good for a laugh!

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my own way out of this maze?

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a seat in the stand.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

Not the torturer will scare me
Nor the body's final fall
Nor the barrels of death's rifles
Nor the shadows on the wall
Nor the night when to the ground
The last dim star of pain, is hurled
But the blind indifference
Of a merciless, unfeeling world

Big man,pig man, ha ha charade you are
You well heel big wheel ha ha charade you are
but when your hand is on your heart,
your nearly a good laugh almost a joker
with your head down in the pig bin
saying keep on digging, pig stain on your fat chin
what do you hope to find, down in the pig mine
your nearly a laugh ,your nearly a laugh
but your really a cry

No. "You gotta
sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
you go to be able
to pick out the easy meat
with your eyes closed.
Then moving in silently
down wind and out of sight
you've go to strike when the moment is right
without thinking.

"Saw his body thrashing 'round"
"Saw his pulse rate going down"
"Saw him in convulsive throws"

Ok SD here goes:
You can work on points for style,
like the club tie and the firm handshake,
the sudden look in the eyes and an easy smile,
you have to be trusted by the people that you lie too,
so that when they turn their backs on you,
you'll get the chance to put the knife in,

So, BrotherBean, I gotta ask: Is this from memory or do you have the cd. I have not heard this music since I played it on a turntable, and I'm thinking that was high school.
