Bug in Start Panel Rollovers Using Alpha Channel Transparency

Wednesday, March 2, 2005 by Emilio Cerra | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I'm experiencing a quirky bug using WindowBlinds 4.50.044 on both my home (Dell desktop) and work (Dell laptop) computers. I've been experimenting with alpha transparency on the userpane of a skin that I've been playing with and noticed that the first time you open the start panel, rollover effects on both menus will not work. However, if I close the start panel then reopen it, the rollovers work just fine. I removed the alpha transparency to see if that would help, but the effect persisted. It seems that if I don't open the start panel for a while, the rollover glitch returns but I haven't done any tests to confirm that.

Anyone else seeing this problem in WB 4.50?

Yes, I have experienced the same issue. All you need to do is apply the skin twice and the problem goes away. You still have to open and close the start panel twice for it to work perfect. It happens with all alpha blended start panels that I have tested so far.

Thanks for the confirmation, guys.

Has this been reported to Stardock? Or is this post enough to make them aware of the issue?
