Origianl XP theme

Please can someone tell me were to download the original XP theme because windows blinds has deleted it (Its not under the tab in display properties or anywere)
I just need a website address of were to download it. I also have the windows xp cd but I am unsure as how to repair/restore the file.

WindowBlinds, by definition, can't affect your existing themes. That is the point of it - it uses its own themes and has no reason to touch any system files.
I can't imagine a scenario where the Luna.msstyles has been removed unless you've been using one of those uxtheme patching programs. But you could be able to find luna.msstyles in c:\windows\resources\themes\luna

I have lunaXP there but when I got to display and select it then click apply I get the error as shown below

It then changes the theme to the grey Windows 98 look.
What does the error mean. Also I have tried replacing the uxtheme.dll with the original and a patched one but nothing works
It does ask me to put in the Windows XP SP2 disc but I only have the original XP one so I cant replace it.

It means there is something wrong with your uxtheme.dll.
Your best bet would be to reinstall SP2. If you don't have it, I'm afraid you'll have to redownload it.
But did you place the new uxtheme.dll in your C:\Windows\System32 folder? Make sure you rename the one you have there first (uxtheme.bak).
Note that if you already have a file called uxtheme.bak there, you could try to rename it back to uxtheme.dll.

If I reinstall SP2 is it going to delete anything of my computer like personal files ie words docs.
And I did put it in the system 32 folder, I renamed all the other ones I could find on my computer to untheme.bak or .old.
Any thing else I can try before re-installing. PHWWWWWWW.....

He could try this:
SFC (system file checker)
Open a DOS Prompt and typr this: SFC /scannow
That will restore all missing or messed up windows files.

unistall windowblinds ,reboot, find ms royale on net dwnld dbl click dwnld that should work. i think that wb 4.5 does indeed mess with uxtheme because on older versions when i changed themes they just changed but now i get the ms please wait screen, which i didnot on previous versions.

Hey Kona, Great tip! and something new I personally just learned. I tested it out and it works.
Gibb, in the "Run" box on your start menu type CMD, this will open Command.exe, or better known as the DOS Prompt at the prompt type sfc/scannow it will ask you to put your XP installation disk in, then it will proceed to do exactly what Kona says it does.

Please enlighten us on how you gained such wisdom that just because the skinned Please Wait dialog shows that WindowBlinds messes with the uxtheme.dll....

When switching themes I too get the MS "please wait" screen but I haven't lost my default Luna themes. As far as I know WB dosen't mess with the uxtheme.dll file.

WindowBlinds is not removing your uxtheme.dll or modifying the file. If it or .msstyles files were physically removed from your disk, you need to look elsewhere than WB for the culprit.
At this point, if Windows is persisting on being difficult, you may have no choice but to move your data (my docs, favorites, mail, etc) to another dir/device and reinstall.

Thanks for all the replies ppl, but so far no luck.
When I do the sfc/ scan now it asks me to insert my Windows XP CD, so I put it in but it says its the wrong disc.
Could this be because I now have service pack 2 and the XP disc is one with either no sp or sp1?
If I re install the service pack 2 from wndows update will it delete any of my files?

...I would listen to Lantec post#15. It shouldn't remove any files or settings, but I would backup your files none the less. With all the things that can go wrong with a PC, whether it be hardware failure, botched software install, virii infestation, etc., routine backups are essential to your PC's health. It's things like this that will make you glad you did. Good Luck

No, SP2 shouldn't touch anything other than system files.

Hi there Gibb, I knew there was a reason I havent installed SP2 yet, I just wasnt sure what it was until now!
Anyway, Essencay and Lantec are correct, Backup, and before installing software create *restore points.
And while we are on the subject of restore points..Have you tried that? using a restore point will return your system to the exact state it was, say perhaps, the day before you installed WB's..
Anyway, to do a restore go to Start Panel-programs-accessories-system tools-Restore.. Choose restore my computer to an earlier time, it should display a calander with avalable restore dates upon it in bold type..just choose a date that you think is before your WB installation and click restore now.
After your restore, use the PC, make sure everything is working fine..if it is..reinstall Window Blinds and come back and tell us all we were right, it was NOT window blinds that caused the issue!!!

Tried system restore but guess what........nope didnt change a thing.
Im trying to avoid installing sp2 again becuase theres alot of stuff on the computer and backing up it all will take ages.
If you guys figer any thing else please post. im willing to try anything excpet installing SP or OS again.

::heavy sighs:: Well Gibb, I am out of solutions, SFC wont work, Restore didnt help, I dont know if you tried Chkdsk yet or not, and probably a recovery installation wont work due to the SP2 installation..Soo looking at all these things I can only ask

If you do decide to reformat your hdd, please consider putting in another partition for holding all your data files (pics, docs, themes, etc). If this ever happens again, you can just format the boot partition by itself. If you get a disk imaging program, you can set everything up exactly as you want and create a disk image. Then, if you ever need to format your boot partition, it will only take minutes to get back to where you started from.

The patched uxtheme.dll's work fine usually, but usually don't work after installing a Service Pack.
If you have Service Pack 2 installed, them maybe you should download the new patched uxtheme compatible with Service Pack 2. You can get it from there:
