after uninstalling HUGE problems

HUGE!!!!!!!!

Sunday, February 13, 2005 by evolvedweb | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I installed WindowBlinds and found that it was a waste of time.
I then uninstalled WindowBlinds and found that my task bar and whole systems theme has been changed to "Classic".
I went to Display Properties and clicked on Apperance and changed it to Windows Xp style.
the screen did that thing where it goes black+grey with the little blue box in the middle, and stops.
My computer wont respond i cant do anything (i left it for 20 minutes and it still was at this part)
i then have to turn off my computer and then restart. but im still stuck with the Classic theme!!!!

The program is F__King useless once you install it you are stuck with it or your stuck with Windows Classic theme!!

evolvedweb,

If you did not unload WindowBlinds before uninstalling, it may have created an issue. You have two options that I know of:

1) Reinstall WindowBlinds, run it, then unload it (right click on system tray icon and select "Unload WindowBlinds"), then go to Display Properties and select "Windows XP" in the drop down list under the "Themes" tab (first tab on left), click apply. This has always worked for me in going back to the default "Windows XP" theme.

2) Try going to a post I made here Link and use the link in comment #1 to get the "odnt_zapper" utility.

Download the utility, run it, select WindowBlinds in the "uninstall" list, and it will uninstall any trace of WindowBlinds (except perhaps registry records, which should not create any issues).

Reboot computer, go to Display Properties and select "Windows XP" in the drop down list under the "Themes" tab (first tab on left), click apply, you should be good to go.

Sorry you had a bad experience, I hope you have a better one if you decide to try it again.

Hope this helps.

None of those options work.
I reinstalled WindowBlinds and unloaded it then did the display properties but it just sits there saying "please wait"
so i did. But it didnt change at all.
Did the second option aswell but the same thing happened.

So far WindowBlinds has been the most F__CKED up program i have ever used.
I'm contemplating if i should start telling people not to use this program because it might do this.

REPLY NEEDED WITH SOLUTION FROM SOMEONE WHO IS FROM STARDOCK!!!!

Email Stardock Support.

What Corky_O asked you to do should've worked, unless you had previously installed other GUI customizations like the uxtheme.dll hack. Also if your Themes service has been disabled you would not be able to apply any of the three Luna (blue, silver or green) visual styles.

And for the record...there is nothing at all wrong with WindowBlinds, it's usually always a user problem.

Remember the Terminator 3 desktop that was released ? Well , I had a Similar problem. I had installed that THEN i installed Windows Blinds. Well , not only did it cause lots of problems, I was seeing stop errors so often , its like its going out of style and windows wants to be noticed.

And by the way , WindowBlinds is NOT A PIECE OF WORTHLESS SOFTWARE! Just because you had a problem with it doesnt mean that others are not going to like it.
