Is the Constitution a non-smokers Document?

We have passed Legislation limiting the Rights of smokers, where they can Eat, what restaurants, what jobs, put out in the cold, what appartments etc., the list goes on and on!
Did we do this to the different nationalities? Did we legalise a certain life style?
If we squeeze out the last smoker, who is next?

What made me less human to have my rights taken away?
I always respect others and there feelings and act accordingly.
Why was there a need to legalise your life style over mine!
My opion is if it is a bad drug then band it shut the doors burn the stock piles get rid of it as a nation.
Untill then quit taking or making laws takeing away my rights as a human being by limiting what I can do
Can I legalise were you can live or What job you can do or Where you can go. Can I do this to you ? Certainly not Nor would I want to! If you came to my home respect and regard to you feelings would be given! Whats wrong with that for a nation to do the same thing. If you non smokers can do this what is next?

Here in New York we've banned smokers from lighting up in public places. Ever since, all the restaurants have been better places.
What in the world do you mean by nationalities and lifestyles? Obviously smoking is HEALTH PROBLEM, and removing that health problem from my sight is totally fine with me.

I smoke and I have no issue with the current culture in America concerning it. In the long run, the companies producing these products as well as the folks that rely on tobacco as a crop will suffer, but the country as a whole will be better off as fewer and fewer folks smoke through reduce healthcare costs and greater productivity. Anyway smoking isn't a right, it's a lifestyle choice which can be altered by the rules of society.

Untill it starts limiting you! Telling you what you can do and not do when others can! (well I'm not doing anything against society) don't go there. The fact is if it happens now it will happen again if everyone is equal then why are they limiting others.We are law abiding citizens too ya know!So why are our Civil Liberties being Revoked or limited in some way.what if they start saying the same about over weight people you cannot live here, you cannot work here, you will have to your break out side, you cannot eat here, we have to seggragate you over here. because of Society rules(well that not a health issue) dont go there the fact is it can happen

What specific part of the Constitution are you referring to? I don't remember the part that says you have the right to smoke and endanger others with it.

There are so many more things that pollute our environment besides smoking, smoking is an easy one to get rid of. Cars, oil refineries, factories.....the list goes on and on, are they going to ban those for the sake of everyones health? The answer is no.......it's all about the mighty dollar, so health plays second fiddle when comes down to big business. This is not a healthy world we live in and banning smoking is not going to make much of a difference, believe me. I've had my say.

If it was about the almighty dollar, smoking would be in no danger. Tobacco lobbies make a helluva lot of money. Your'e right about one thing though Carolelee - smoking is an easy one to get rid of. That's because it's a choice that a person makes that has no benefit whatsoever, so there is no reason for it to be "protected" in any shape or form. Factories provide the goods that society demands, cars make it possible for people to live and work in relative comfort instead of being crowded into inner cities like during the industrial revolution. Smoking gives none of those benefits - only hazards. Finally, smoking is not banned within a person's own home. Just like you can walk around naked in your own home, you can smoke there too. Neither should you be able to do in a public place where you'd be exposing everyone else to your bad decisions.
Just because you - or anybody - decided to throw caution to the wind, ignore all the warnings of cancer, and spend your hard earned money on something that has absolutely no benefit and plenty of dangers (which often you'll deny are real dangers) doesn't mean that you have the right to subject everyone else to it. It'd be like if I decided my luck was so good I should play Russian Roulette every day. If I make that decision - fine. But if I do it in public and some innocent bystander gets shot, am I not at fault?

Well living in Quebec I can only talk about what happens here..3 years ago here smoking was banned everywhere, not at work, not at restaurants are you allowed to smoke in public. And the results did help among the young. If my statitis are right I believe it was about 28-30% drop in smoking for the young, which is really good. But...cigarettes in the province of Quebec cost over 8.00 a pack..3 dollars to make and the balance in tax....gasoline has gone up 200% here in the last 3 years...beer gone up about 30%. Personal income tax gone up dramatically. Altough I agree that smoking is a bad habit..in the province of Quebec its a multi-million dollar industry and if they dont get it from smokers they will get if wherevcr they can. Quebec, New York wherever..it takes money to make the world go round.So although I do agree that smoking is bad and I have been smoking for 30 years and wish I could stop but cant, there is always two sides to a coin.

Lotherius, there are plenty evils in this world, all beit smoking is one of them but somehow you've missed my point. Yes we need cars to get around but what about the crap coming out of the exhaust, is that helping your lungs? What about the ozone, skin cancer, ect? The mighty oil companies are trying to block electric cars because it will hurt their bottom line. How about another issue such as drinking, I see no warning labels on bottles about liver problems or drinking and driving. So you see...... the list will go on and on. I'm not sticking up for all the smokers out there, they make their own choices, I'm just pointing out that there are other things to be more concerned about other than the "easy" smoking issue.

As per the mention about alcohol, I'll bite... First, I drink very rarely and never to the point of getting wasted. I think those who drink and drive should be locked away for a very long time for reckless endangerment.
However, someone sipping alcohol in a restuarant is completley different than smoking. Why? The very simple reason that the alcohol doesn't seep through the air and get into my system whether I want it to or not. Smoke does.
I come from a family where everybody but me smokes. I've never smoked a day in my life. I've been asked if I smoke however, because I have a persistent "smoker's cough". I'm no medical expert, so I can't tell if it's actually related, but I'm sure growing up in a smoke-laden household did not help the situation. Also, my eyes are very sensitive to smoke and burn to the point where I cannot even keep them open when there is much smoke in the air. For this reason I can't ride in a closed vehicle with a smoker, nor can I enjoy myself at many clubs or types of places where smoke gets heavy.
When someone drinks alcohol, as long as they are responsible in doing so, I can be 1 foot away from them and it does not affect me in the least. When they light up - that is no longer the case - it affects me very much.

If smoke did not go into other people's lungs when an individual smokes, it would be a non issue.

mad....get a life, find a new hobbie....all those who are bashing on smokers only makes
me wanna blow smoke in your face....
i can't imagine clubs banning smoking....they would have no customers if they tried that here....same goes for restaurants....i sure wouldn't go.....not that i NEED to smoke, but i WANNA smoke....(i can get so irritated by crying
